Overview
About Me
Hi! I'm a student from Perth, Australia, studying Law and Sustainable Development. I'm in Europe for a few months, initially coming over to study Human Rights Law in Geneva for a few weeks, then backpacking for the rest.
I'm nearly at the end of my degree, at the end of which I hope to become a human rights lawyer specialising in refugee and asylum seeker matters.
I'm a very easy-going and easy to live with- I've shared with people for about 6 years plus 3 years of boarding school! At the moment I live in an amazing house with 4 others in Fremantle WA, 5 minutes from both the river and beach with a beautiful kelpie! I'm very respectful of peoples' space and belongings. I love getting to know people and am always up for a chat about anything! Politics/current affairs/environmental issues/philosophy/music/books/love- I love listening and learning.
I've travelled before in South America, Sri Lanka and lived in Indonesia for 6 months to study international law. These have been some of the best times of my life, I especially loved South America (Colombia!), though Sri Lankan food is some of the best!
I'm new to Couchsurfing and can't wait to meet many lovely people throughout Europe!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Getting to know new people and new cultures is the best part of travelling. Hostels can be amazing for meeting new people from around the world, but sometimes this means you don't end up hanging out with the locals! I love the idea of spending a few days with people from each town or city and really getting to know that place, rather than just be a tourist passing through.
I wish I had've gotten involved with Couchsurfing sooner! Once I'm back in Perth I'd love to get involved with Couchsurfing in my hometown (sadly my share house has barely enough room for its' tenants let alone backpackers!).
So I don't have any reviews or references on Couchsurfing yet, so I'm hoping people will give me a chance to start off with! I promise you won't regret it :)
Interests
I love new places and people, and especially landscapes. I grew up on a farm in country WA so have always had a close appreciation for nature- exploring beautiful new terrains is one of my favourite parts of travelling! I like to get involved in nature as much as possible, and am obsessed with reading books about healing plants and herbs (though my garden really needs some help!)
I love to read, especially books about different cultures. I enjoy seeing live music and exploring cities. I especially love the beach, which is definitely the best part of living in Perth! I also like playing the guitar, though my skills are pretty basic! But I can play at least 4 chords and hold a tune :)

What I Can Share with Hosts
Most of my time lately has been spent working in or studying refugee law in Australia, so I can offer people a wealth of knowledge about Australia's terrible human rights record regarding refugees if they're interested!! If that doesn't excite you (it's a bit bleak I know!), then I can share my fairly basic but enthusiastic cooking skills, and I'd be really happy to help out with gardening or anything like that.
