About Me

Hey,
So I got bit by a travel bug a few years back now after spending the most amazing day back country skiing with friends, and ever since my life has been this swap from university to traveling, with adventures in between. I would self identify as both a nerd and an outdoor enthusiast, but basically at the end of the day I simply love doing something interesting with my time. To me, traveling is all about self exploration through new experiences, as well as finding the best stories to take home with me. I'm an experience over materials type of person with a serious love of new adventures with interesting people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Ya, there is a free bed. But to me, the benefit in couch surfing lies in the experience of the local. Looking at profiles and talking to a couple people, I realize that couchsurfing has changed in the last couple years from this cultural exchange to a hookup/free place to stay situation. I'm not for that. I'm not interested in the free room and I certainly don't see this as a way to hookup. But if you have a really cool home in an amazing place, I want to see it. No one loves or knows their home the way a local does.

Interests

The outdoors. Mostly skiing. Definitely skiing. Meeting of the minds. Long conversations about how the world works. Drinking, but not that crazy American style where everyone is fucked. Biology, and anything intelligent. Geeky shit, into any and almost all of it. Having adventures. Basically I want to do anything new and amazing.

Music, Movies, and Books

Oh man...
Music: I love it all, give me your EDM, your rock, your alternative, your rap, your obscure hipster band that only you and five other people know about. Favorites include: Mumford and Sons, Newton Falker, Zedd, Krewella, Kygo, The Goo Goo Dolls

Movies: the nerdier the better: Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Fight Club, How to Train Your Dragon, Zombieland, V for Vendetta...

Books: I love reading. Sometimes more than breathing. I'll try to keep this list short. Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Unwind, Treasure Island, the Casual Vacancy, Ender's Game, Right Behind You, Calvin and Hobbes....

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Month long road trip in Canada, including fifteen of those days living out of a sea kayak, eight of those in the rain. Other features include mountain biking, rock climbing, and rafting. Tested me mentally and physically, but I came out the other end better than when I left.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm relatively new to SLC, but I'm up, down, and around for anything. My work schedule is 8 days on, 6 days off, so if you catch me on my off shift I have tons of free time to do any rad adventure activity. If you wanna hang out, be down to be outside, whether its to go hiking, climbing, mountain biking, or skiing.
Cause thats what I do, what I know about, and what I want to share.
Also rad conversations and good beer.
