About Me

I have a passion for travel and have been hoping from one place to another for the past 4 years. I think of myself as friendly and always look for the good in a situation. I love to cook and think the best way to get to know someone is over a good meal :)

I am just coming to the end of a 3 month stint in South East Asia where after which I will be settling in Canada for 2 years with my fiancée Jacob.

Before that I lived in Manchester - UK, Hyeres - France, Montreal - Canada, Nova Scotia - Canada and Liverpool - UK.

I've done my best to learn French over the years but I'm still struggling and to be honest, I'm quite out of practice. If any one would like to help me with conversations I would be more than grateful!

I'm happiest near water and recently learnt to dive. I hear Canada has the best fresh water diving in the world so can't wait to check that out :) I am also a seasoned wwoofer and love getting my hands dirty. I'm a very practical sort of person.

Jake and myself also run a blog and make documentaries. You can see our stuff at www.thelittlebigexplorers.com if you would like to scope me out a bit more ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people and usually the people you meet make the trip :) I love the idea and have used it a little bit when I moved to Canada the first time. Everyone I met was so friendly and helped me to get to know the places I was in so much better than if I had arrived on my own.

I move around a lot and it can be a little daunting making friends in a new place all over again. I've met some wonderful people at couchsurfing events and through other couchsurfers. It's helped me feel at home on many occasions :)

Interests

I love traveling and meeting new people. I'm a keen diver and would like to become a dive master one day. I'm currently at advanced open water so have a long way to go!

I spent 3 months working on a permaculture homestead and have developed an interest in this ever since. I also love anything furry, animals melt my heart and I think everything is adorable.

I think politics are one of the most important subjects to think about and voted to stay in Europe!

Although I love reading I go through phases, some weeks I'll finish a book, some months I won't manage to finish a book. I try to read a variety of genres to keep it interesting :) my current topic of interest is non fictional biographies written as thought they were fiction.

I love documentaries and Michael Moore is my guilty pleasure. I also make short documentaries with my fiancée as we travel round.

Learning is the best thing in the world and I find knitting very satisfying! I'm good at hats.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm not sure it's amazing but I'm certainly proud of the amount of stray animals I've taken in and rehomed over the years. From Hobo the cat, to Jess the rabbit who Hobo caught, to Chester the flea bitten yorkie, to Cooper the poisoned pigeon and peanut the cat with no teeth and IBS.

I'm very proud to have helped those guys. Very proud indeed :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe everyone has something to teach and I have a lot to learn.

I could probably teach someone basic bookkeeping from my previous job. I would love to learn about engines. I'm always happy to share a meal :)
