About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Renovating a home built in 1909. Planning a trip to see the Northern Lights.

ABOUT ME

What would my friends say about me? Hm, well, I'm often surprised by what my friends say, but I'll do my best here. They would probably, and I have heard them say on occasion, say that I try very hard at things. Also, that I can get pretty excited about things, which can be fun. They also say that I'm intelligent, or funny, or cluttered, or absent minded, or good at using maps, or lacking a sense of direction, or adventurous, or down to earth. All sorts of things really. Some like my varied past, some dislike that I forget about my phone a lot. Most of them describe me as creative, some as articulate. I've often been described as sweet, but also as someone that will put her foot in her mouth. Maybe that sums it up.

PHILOSOPHY

Easy to say, but infinite in implementation: Love God & my Fellow Man.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I surf occasionally, and host occasionally. Lately, due to all the home renovation, there has hardly been a place for me to sleep, let alone a guest.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have a few friends who have surfed extensively. My personal experience is more sparse. I've started traveling around the country quite a bit for work, and may be trying to use the site to just meet new people in a new city.

Interests

I read, I research, I paint, I photograph. I hike, camp, lounge in hot springs, cross country ski some when I can, have been spending a lot of time learning how and then renovating my house. Current interests in that regard are concrete and tile work. I volunteer as a mentor for an 11 year old.

Music, Movies, and Books

Raise High the Roof Beam Carpenter and Seymour an Introduction - JD Salinger
Mother Night - Kurt Vonnegut
Dune - Frank Herbert

I also like to read novels of the places as I travel in them. Some of these include:
Iceland - Independent People - Halldór Laxness
Louisiana - The Awakening - Kate Chopin
Russia - Anna Karenina - Leo Tolstoy
Dominica - The Wide Sargasso Sea - Jean Rhys
Ireland - Selected Stories - Mary Lavin
Alaska - The Stars, The Snow, the Fire - John Haines

My favorite movie might be Rushmore.

My musical taste is varied.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was really happy when I was able to achieve full king pigeon pose.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach drawing, or possibly math. How to lay a solid wood floor, or drywall philosophy.

I like to learn. Tango? Fly fishing? Scuba? Local recipe? Folk songs? Name some things. I'll probably be interested.

So many fun things can be shared. Cooking, conversation, yoga, board games, teaching, learning. The list is endless.
