Overview
About Me
I've lived on several Hawaiian islands over the last five years. I'm moving back to mainland USA, and am looking to branch out, visit new cities, and meet new people along the way.
Professionally, I've been working as a family therapist on Hawaii Island. My profession interests are developing my clinical skill and contributing to progressive models treating child/adolescent trauma. Interpersonally, I'm interested in learning from others, exchanging ideas, breaking down unhealthy constructs, mindfulness, humanism, and consent. I love having new experiences.
I'm much more snarky and sarcastic after a few drinks.
If you're interested in staying with me in Kona, I have a really small space, and really busy schedule. I could host one person for maybe 1-3 days tops, preferably over the weekend. Give me some notice, and I wouldn't mind showing you a few cool places around town if I have time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Coming back to mainland USA and want to take my time before settling down again. I've been away for a while, so meeting new people with diverse interests and perspectives, exploring new cities, and learning about what different parts of the country have to offer is my priority. I still haven't decided where I'm going to end up. Maybe you can help give me some insight!
Interests
I'm a big fan of chasing novelty, high adrenaline activities, and challenging myself physically and intellectually.
Physically, I practice Brazillian Jiu Jitsu regularly, love to get out in the sun and chase some waves, run and go to the gym, climb waterfalls, go on long hikes, and jump off cliffs. I also enjoy biking and motorcycle riding.
I also enjoy reading a good book (I've read almost everything ever written by Kurt Vonnegut), discussing ethics and value theory (or most things philosophy, theoretical or applied), playing music, being a good friend, eating new foods, seeing new places, and learning new languages.

Music, Movies, and Books
Totally open when it comes to music, books, and movies. Any you'd like to share?
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I bought a one way ticket to Myanmar without much more than three shirts, two pairs of pants, a debit card, and my passport. I flew back home from Australia five months later. Some people think that makes me pretty cool.
Teach, Learn, Share
Jack of all trades:
I'm a beginner in Brazillian Jiu Jitsu, I can teach some self defense skills. I'm a pretty great percussionist, and play guitar and ukulele. I know a good amount about Hawaiian and Chinese cultures. I make for a decent dance partner. I can listen to your feelings and respond therapeutically. I'm also great at engaging in philosophical discussion and critical thought.
Oh, I can teach you how to ride a motorcycle? Motorcycle not included.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm generally happy to help anyone I come across. If you need something, just let me know.
I can give you a ride, help out with your kids, cook you vegan Thai food (and other kinds of vegan food) from scratch, I can clean your house, do work in your garden, play with your dog, be your friend,
