Overview
About Me
My name is Sarah. I'm a Santa Barbara native and an ocean lover. I'm a recent graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where I received my BFAW, (Bachelor of Fine Arts in Writing), with a studio emphasis in sound design. I currently work for one of the largest print companies in the world as an obituary editor and representative, and spend my free time with my super chubby cat, my television, and my amazing partner. I am a creative with a big heart, and hope that anyone who welcomes me into their home, and vice versa, will become a friend.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like the idea of a community of travelers who like doing so on a budget. Couchsurfing provides me with human interaction and connects me with like-minded people. I would so much rather make a friend than stay at a hotel, and, as a recent graduate, hotels aren't necessarily an affordable option. Couchsurfing is also a community. While I haven't really been a big part of it in a long time, I am excited about diving back in, now that I have the money to travel and space to accommodate travelers.
Interests
My favorite thing in the world is the ocean. I'll talk about it more than you'd like. Otherwise, shows. I'm definitely the kind if person to stay with if you want to experience the local music scene. I primarily go to punk and electronic shows, hosted by friends or local community members. I'm also a frequent attendee at local readings, and I try to go to museums as often as I can. As a graduate of SAIC, one of the benefits of staying with me is that I'll know of local art events and exhibits that you can go to on a budget. I have a pretty demanding work schedule, and might not be able to accompany you, but I will definitely try and show you as much as I can! If you're an independent traveler, that's cool, too. Feel free to pop in as you like, I've got spare keys.

Music, Movies, and Books
Oof. I hate these kinds of questions. I'll just say that my favorite authors are Joan Didion and Patti Smith, and my favorite musicians are Nicolas Jaar and Kathleen Hanna. I have a few favorite movies, but I'm a huge T.V. person. Specifically, my favorite shows include Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Steven Universe, Adventure Time, Doctor Who, Bob's Burgers, Sherlock, Twin Peaks, 30 Rock, and Parks and Recreation. I love Tarantino, and my favorite movie genres are Science Fiction and Horror/Thriller, though I love a good drama or documentary.
