ABOUT ME

A friend recently read me an excerpt from some cosmic-looking paperback to the effect of:
"universal consciousness expands with the experience of each individual consciousness." That seems like a neat way of looking at things, then perhaps the greatest way that one can contribute to humankind is to take risks, to live uniquely, to light up the void patches in the universe with one's own glowing curiosity. Whoa I guess what I'm saying is that I strongly value personal freedom. It's probably this value above all others that influences the way I make decisions. I'm 5'4" and my birth sign is Sagittarius and I hate the taste of licorice.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've seen pitifully few movies for someone who devotes a time to producing video art. I love the idea of Really Getting Into esoteric art films, but when it gets down to it, flashy hollywood action movies are where my heart's at. ET, Apollo 13, Jurassic Park. Its neat when so much money is poured into a film that the most cutting edge technologies can be employed. The piece becomes a time capsule, a perfect representation of all a filmmaking culture has to offer in one historical moment. I've got much more of an attention span for books than movies. Usually the last book that I've read is my favorite book. Right now, that's Milan Kundera's Book of Laughter and Forgetting. As far as music goes,I don't know, I prefer to be as nominally in control of what I'm listening to as possible. It's great when other people control the sound system, and I can appreciate the music for how it sounds rather than how to access it again. Weird how some of these prompts get me so wordy.
