I lived abroad when I was younger and my love for the world and other cultures was only enriched when I studied abroad in the North of England and in Sweden for a year. These experiences have really made me value the richness of getting to experience a new place from a local perspective! I've lived in New York City on and off and love everything a city has to offer- history, culture, art, music, constant opportunities for adventures and to find something new!

My family lived in France when I was in elementary school, and living in another country at such a young age really shaped who I am and how I view the world. I'm American, but I've know what it's like to not feel American and look at Americans as strange. ;)

I think it's important to take life seriously and engage actively with the world, yet don't forget to laugh, stop to admire a tree that would be great to climb, play charades with friends, and see how you can show someone else love with a random act of kindness.

Couchsurfing helps the budget and gives a way more unique opportunity to experience local life- win/win!

Having a local also is such a blessing with logistics in being able to recommend places to see, transportation, etc. Through hosting, I've become much more proficient in my own (current) city of San Francisco from all the visitors that have stayed with me and I've shown around! =)

Music-tons! I'm a bit of an old soul in music taste. I sang with an a cappella group in university, so if you want to jam, I'd LOVE to make some music together! =D

Books- Some favorites include "Captivating" and "Jesus Calling"

Can I also just add I love podcasts? They're a great way to learn and make the most of commute time! Some of my favorites there include:
-12 Byzantine Rulers
-The History Chicks
-The Bowery Boys (about NYC history)
-Betty in the Sky with a Suitcase (a flight attendant shares funny stories from her job)
-Revolutions by Mike Duncan (going through revolutions around the world 1 at a time)
-Amateur Traveler (great resource for learning about locations)
-Travel with Rick Steves

Of course these are all fun things, but I don't think these really determine who we will or won't get along with. Just like the little sister says in 500 Days of Summer, "Just because she likes the same bizzaro crap you do doesn't mean she's your soul mate." Truth. So let's be friends even if you don't sing musicals to yourself like I do. =D
