About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Heading off west to Cornwall...

ABOUT ME

Hi there,

So I'm an English girl from London who has been living in Montpellier for the last five years. I originally came to France for a one month holiday with the idea to take some French lessons to refresh my French A level that I hadn't touched in 10 years. But I loved the language, the city and the climate so much that I've never left - I find the way of life in sunny Montpellier much more agreeable than the profit-focussed, fast paced world of London. So I went from working as a communications manager on IT projects to working in a boulangerie, then as my French improved to selling alarms to French farmers and now I work as a receptionist at a big campsite near Palavas Les Flots.

Music-wise, I have an ecletic taste ranging from Shostakovich to drum and bass, with even a bit of black metal like Nile thrown in, thanks to a friend who educated me on this genre! I like more chilled music too. In fact, it's much easier to say what I know I don't like and that's pretty much everything you find in the commercial charts, the modern R&B, HipHop and every-song-sounds-the-same-as-the-last-one Pop era. But anyway, enough of that before I start to rant! For my part, I play the alto saxophone but I need to practise more it has to be said.

I like to socialise in cosy late night bars and you're much more likely to find me there than in a club, although depending on amount of alcohol consumed I can be swayed to dance it up. In the evenings I go to small gigs in bars or sometimes the theatre or spend the whole night having a long leisurely meal in a restaurant.

I like a drink and my tastes are also fairly varied, sometimes it's a vodka and orange other times a refreshing cider. Sometimes an ale (the sort you find in every English pub) or a good red wine and cheese. Hmmm, I hope I'm not as much of an alcoholic as that makes me sound!

In fact, I'm a gourmande through and through; eating is one of my favourite hobbies (Working in a bakery was a bit dangerous on that front!). Perversely, I'm a horrible cook.

I live in a colocation so it's not possible for me to host people. However, if I'm not working, I'm happy to meet up with you and show you around the city. Perhaps even go further afield to the beach or for a hike in the countryside.

Sports-wise I enjoy long walks and cycling. I am also trying to get the hang of beach volleyball and if you'd like to go throw a ball I can take you to some volleyball nets.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't live to work, work to live.
