About Me

I once read that the reason time seems to go by so quickly as an adult is because we experience less "first times". As a kid I've had hundreds: first time my dad let go of the bike and I didn't fall, first fall from the monkey bars and I farted in front of my crush, first time swinging my head back on the swings and realizing I like seeing the world from a different perspective.
Those experiences were effortless. Though it takes work now, I try to experience the new as often as possible. Couchsurfing was a first. And that led me to the first time in Paris, and the first time on the back of a motorcycle. Life is too short to stay in my comfort zone. I read and write, I rock climb. I'm learning french and I draw and watercolor. There is so much to see out there to only have one sentence in the "About Me" category. Learn, create, do, love.

I love bookshelves and bookstores. Snuggling in a large comfy chair with a good book, a cup of tea, and natural sunlight makes my heart swell.

During my stay in Germany, I started a travel journal to remember the small moments. Tucked between pages are leaves from Erfurt, where a woman I befriended while making a documentary offered us a free place to stay and played tour guide. On another page I water colored the view from my window in Bonn, Germany. And on another, a drawing of what I remembered of an outlook on the trail by my host house, where a Muslim woman snuck out for a picnic with her boyfriend, wine and bread between soft kisses.
I've since filled up that journal and started another. I hope to someday fill a chest with photos and messy writing to remind myself of all the people I've met and things I've seen.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

With a positive attitude and a "yes-man" disposition

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed for the first time in Paris and had such a fantastic time. We rode around on a motorcycle and he took me to all the places of interest. We also enjoyed a nice lunch together with his friends. He even wrote in my journal :D
Also stayed with this woman in a small down in France - her friends came over and we sang Beatles songs off key, it was lovely.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to share stories over cups of coffee, wine, or food.
I want to learn your love story: How your parents met, how you met your significant other; What language you dream in; what you consider your purpose of life to be.
Photography is one way I teach and share - would love to take your photo on film :)
