About Me
ABOUT ME
I'm from Louisiana but lived in Washington, DC for (cough) years while finishing graduate school at the University of Maryland. After staggering across the finish line in the summer of 2011, I decided to get as far away from America and American academia as possible and chose China because it was the quickest and easiest ticket out of Dodge. I also have family in Kunming and and know a little bit about the culture, although unfortunately (still) next to nothing about the language. Stop speaking English to me, Chinese friends! :)
PHILOSOPHY

Music, Movies, and Books
Indie and art films; blues, roots and rock music. Books are a conversation, but if I had to name my top five works of prose--not the ones that I simply love but the ones that also appeal to my aesthetic and moral sensibilities--they'd be, in order: (1) All the King's Men, (2) Absalom! Absalom! (3) To the Lighthouse, (4) Passage to India and/or Howard's End, and (5) "Notes of a Native Son" by James Baldwin. And yes the Modernist synchronicity is also indicative of something.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've loved and lost.
