About Me

I'm 32 years old and currently living in the Dallas area. My life has been a whirlwind for as long as I can remember. From living on a sailboat and exploring Central America with my family (2003 to 2011) to moving to the Middle East with 4 strangers (10/17 - 5/18) to changing all of my 2019 plans in a single day and finding myself in a very intense 31-day flight attendant training (4/19), I have traveled a very unplanned path. But it's been an adventure that I wouldn't trade for anything.

A very long time ago, I became a Christian. Not very long ago, I realized what that truly means. Since then my prayer has been that God would give me His heart for people, and He has done that by allowing me to travel. I've experienced cultures that have torn down preconceived ideas about the world and met people who have challenged prejudice I didn't even know was in me. I travel for the thrill, but more importantly, I travel, because it opens the doors for encounters that change me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to walk away from every place I visit with a better understanding of that place's culture. I believe the best way to achieve that is to hang out with the people who call that place home. I love meeting new people from different backgrounds. As a flight attendant, I encounter all kinds of people every day, but I don't always get to sit and have a meaningful conversation with them and ask the questions I want to ask. That's why I love Couchsurfing. It offers the opportunity to tear down those barriers society expects us to have around us, so we can actually get to know each other.

Interests

Writing, traveling, dancing (especially country two step!), surfing, paddle boarding, hiking, boxing, anything active and outdoors (especially on the water), meeting new people, coffee shops, history, politics, tea, cats, Italian food...and the list goes on.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite book is and always will be Anne of Green Gables.

I'm unapologetically a Switchfoot fan for life.

Movies are a little bit harder. I like inspirational dramas like Forrest Gump and comedies like Captain Ron. I also love weird independent dramas that feature travel.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moved to the Middle East for 8 months. It changed my life.
