About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To stay connected to myself and cherish the connections I find with others.

ABOUT ME

I am passionate about social justice and living my life so that others can enjoy theirs. It's an ideal that is hard to live up to, but consciousness seems to be key.

PHILOSOPHY

Be yourself and love it, encourage the same in others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been to some meet-up opportunities in my hometown and have surfed lots of couches in the US, Canada, Guatemala, and Honduras.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed for about 2 months around the northeastern United States and Canada. I just got back from Central America where I couchsurfed around and enjoyed learning about each city from my hosts and having instant connections to non touristy things.

Interests

contra dancing, philosophical/existential/deep conversation, social justice, relationships. I like to make art, draw, speak Spanish, experience new cultures, and hike. I love to cook and to eat good food.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to NPR (WNCW for you western NC folks), bluegrass and folk music. I like a lot of stuff but don't consider myself any kind of music buff.
My favorite movies include Closer, V for Vendetta, Crash, and When Harry Met Sally.
I like to read, I read the Economist a lot and Time Magazine as well as the New York Times. As for books, some novels high on my list are: The Color Purple, Their Eyes Were Watching God, and Like Water for Chocolate. Lately I've been reading much more non-fiction Naomi Klein and Eckhart Tolle have had an effect on me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, some amazing experiences in my life include living in Guatemala with a host family for a year then moving to the US/Mexico border and living in intentional community with 7 other volunteers in the area.

While I was on a roadtrip I met a homeless woman that I befriended in Arizona on the street in Boston six months later. Oh Dirty Jersey, I hope we meet again one day.
