About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I want to experience and contribute to community on local, national, and global levels. I love serving others, laughing, getting to know new people and maintaining relationships with old friends.
ABOUT ME
What would my best friends say about me? They'd probably say that I'm awesome. Of course they're biased because they're my best friends, so you can't take their word for it :)
My coworkers would say that I'm constantly giggling and laughing, but I'm by-the-book and hard-working.
I'd say that I am one of the silliest serious people you'll meet. I'm an "old soul." I am extremely extroverted and independent. I am very relational, adventurous, and curious. One of my closest friends calls me a social worker at heart, which means that I love helping others, empowering others, solving problems, advocating, connecting people to resources, and living out the belief that every person is valuable.
My husband and I are partners in everything, and we especially enjoy being travel partners. We're so excited to see the world together :)
PHILOSOPHY
I am a believer and follower of Jesus Christ. My philosophy in life is rooted in the verses Matthew 22:37-39 that can be simply stated, "Love God, and love others."
Along with loving God and people, I have developed quite a love for traveling and learning. I've spent a month or more at a time in Europe, South America, and Mexico. I've driven all over the Southwest and a bit of the South in the U.S. I always enjoy getting to know people that are different from me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have surfed several times now, and I love getting to know new people all over the country. My favorite part of this network is the sense of community we hold with each other. I haven't had the privilege of hosting yet because of schedules or roommates that just weren't comfortable with it. I married a great man in 2017, and he's just now coming around to couchsurfing, so maybe after our roommate moves out, we'll start hosting :)
Interests
I am learning Spanish, and I love engaging with native speakers.
I moved to Tennessee in 2009 to get to know my older half sister who I didn't grow up with. I'm so thankful I did. We are very close now.
I moved to Bremerton, WA to live near my boyfriend at the time in July 2014. I made some good friends in WA, and I love to go back to visit.
I married my hubby, John, in 2017 in Tennessee. Since then, we've started a couple businesses and grown very close with our church family, so no more moving every 2 years for me!
Though I don't often get the chance, I absolutely LOVE to dance!
My favorite card game is called Nertz, and I love a good game of Texas Hold 'Em too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2011, I volunteered at an elementary school in Ecuador that specializes in children with neurological disorders. I was amazed at the awesome attitudes and patience of the teachers. One of the teachers taught both 3rd and 4th grade with regular and special needs children in both grades with various abilities and challenges. The school had am extremely low budget, but the teachers were creative with the resources they had. Even though the children required so much energy and attention, the faculty blew me away with their thoughtfulness by throwing me a surprise dance party on my last day at the school.
