Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

To experience different cultures from around the world, learn lots of new things and make new friends along the way! Couchsurfing - way more fun than a hotel!

ABOUT ME

We are a young couple from Brisbane, Australia who love to see new places, meet new friends, learn and share our knowledge of the world, its people and its food!

2014 was a pretty amazing year for us; beginning the year fresh from a two month trip around Spain and Portugal, we headed back to our second home of Canada. After a side trip to Iceland and some volunteering in Costa Rica we found ourselves in the lovely town of Jasper, in the Canadian Rockies. We love the mountains so much we're going to stay for another summer, but we have some things to do before then...
Next up is a quick trip to Turkey, Czech Republic and Germany, before heading home to Australia for a family wedding and some sunshine. We will be back in Jasper in June, but not before driving to Alaska to see some of the amazing wilderness!

PHILOSOPHY

Living without stuff. Having lived in a van for months, you realise how much you don't need to enjoy life. We like to live our lives without being too consumerist - hard when you're travelling but hopefully easier to do when we're home. We love fresh food and markets! We've started our eco-friendly/organic journey and like to help out where and when we can.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We've stayed with great hosts across Canada, the US, Spain and Germany. We've been fortunate enough to host some fun people back home in Aus too!
We're really looking forward to meeting some new friends and catching up with some old ones as we travel some more.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have surfed through the eastern states of Canada and through quite a few US states as well. We have had so many wonderful opportunities to get to know people, the local culture and to make friends. A lot of the things we've done and seen have been based on what a couch surfing host has told us. We have such a great time and would recommend CS to anyone!! More recently we've had a chance to host while back in Australia, and have met some great new CS friends along the way.

Intereses

Exploring the endless wonder that is our world, eating new foods, experiencing different cultures, learning a new language, learning new ways of doing things, meeting new people.
Toby doesn't mind snapping a photo of two - just a little side project. www.tobyjrobinson.com

Música, películas y libros

HEAPS! Sarah is a book fiend and devours most fiction books but has stuck to her resolution to read more non-fiction books. Toby prefers non-fiction books. We both like bands such as Death Cab for Cutie, Metric, Monsters of Men, Lady Antebellum, The Killers, Greenday, Muse, Gossip and many Aussie bands like Powderfinger, Missy Higgins, and Ash Grunwald. Toby is very eclectic and usually has a song stuck in his head, Dylan one day, Lana Del Rey the next. Sarah is more of an Eagles kind of girl at heart. We like most movies.

Algo increíble que he hecho

A Lunch Experience in Cuba - It started with closed eyes and presents - a cocoa ball and bon bon. The girls then had banana rubbed on our arms and endangered Polymite snails placed upon them - they gradually uncurled and started sucking the banana! Then one person poured rum into your mouth while the owner twisted sugar cane into your mouth for a sweet drink. The food was fantastic and finished off with a cocoa pod with the seeds and ice cream - fantastic!

Seeing icebergs in Newfoundland - totally awesome!! One was so huge it took the boat 20mins to get around it!!

Everything in Jasper - this summer we saw over 25 bears! amazing wildlife and scenery, hiked giant mountains, rafted rapids, soaked in hot springs, kayaked lakes... and now the snow is here, we can ski while looking across the endless Rocky Mountains - wow!

Enseña, aprende, comparte

We can teach you about Australia and debunk all those myths - not EVERYTHING will kill you. Happy to learn anything - especially languages. We can share knowledge and tips about where we've been so far. Toby's a really good teacher - patient and explains things well!
