About Me

PHILOSOPHY

I think experience is the best way to learn and to be human. I am tired of this new technological age where people think connecting is through a screen-I want to get out into the world and meet people and taste new foods and speak new languages-even if I sound silly! I am in a time of my life where I am not tied down to school or a full time job, so there is no better time for me to do these things!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like to hang out with my host and learn about where I am through the eyes of a local.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couch surfed some through Europe meeting great hosts in Brussels, Chartres, and Paris. I love to chat and cook and go out with hosts to see the city the way they do-not through the same old touristy things.

Interests

I love music- I play the ukulele and sing. I love bicycling and painting and enjoy making, looking at and learning about art. I like to make pieces out of found objects. I like to grow my own food when I can and make up cooked concoctions in the kitchen. I like to work with my hands-fixing things, creating, knitting, etc. I obviously love to travel and learn about new life ways. Je parle le francais.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: The Handmaid’s Tale by Margret Atwood for her beautiful and thought provoking word play, Ishmael by Daniel Quinn for his theological insight, Cunt by Inga Muscio for her analysis of modern feminisms; to name only a few. Movies: Gattaca, High Heels and Low Lifes, The Emperor’s New Groove.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of my favorite trips abroad was when a few friends and I went backpacking through The Gambia. We made so few plans and nothing turned out the way we thought it would- but in a wonderful way! This was while I was Living in Senegal, which in itself was such a wonderful time in my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to eat and cook with people, so learning how to make a local dish with my host would be a fun learning and bonding experience for me.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Botswana, Canada, France, Gambia, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Senegal, Spain, Zambia, Zimbabwe

Countries I’ve Lived In
