About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Connect with people and with myself

ABOUT ME

I was born in Rio de Janeiro, grew up in the beautiful island of Florianópolis, lived the last eight years in cloudy São Paulo. I'm back in Rio for the last six years and each time more involved with the local music scene. I guess my friends would say I`m an easygoing guy. I`m talkative and open-minded about pretty much anything. It`s always great to understand other ways of seeing life.

PHILOSOPHY

I think life is meant to be lived intensely, always feeling the strong pulse of present time. And that is precisely what inspired me to quit my job, leave my apartment and use the little money I had to take a long trip through south Asia with no ticket back home. I'm about to do that all over again.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe in the connections made possible by this platform and I want to meet interesting people and get to know their stories.

Interests

Yoga is one of the greatest sources of pleasure and wellbeing that I've come across in my life. So I left everything behind and came to India to do a teacher training course and to get deeper into the practice. Once there I also took an in-depth Thai massage course and decided to go to Chiang Mai to study some more. I'm still a journalist most of the time though. Also, I`ve been playing the bass since I was 14 years old and always had bands, so watching good live music is one of my greatest joys. I've been studying and playing a lot of percussion in the last six years and now I'm a part of several different emsembles in Rio.

Music, Movies, and Books

I fell awkward writing this stuff down, but would love to talk about art, passions, culture and politics over some chai.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

As a journalist sometimes I get to travel to cover stories, so that`s part work and part life experience. Recently I've been to Bangladesh to cover the Rohingya plight. Around 7.000 members of the religious and ethnic minority were killed in the neighbor Mianmar and 700.000 sought refuge there. I went to the refugee camps to talk to these people and write about it to newspapers and magazines in Brazil.
