Overview
About Me
As someone who loves to travel and make up my path through life as I go through it, I’m in a surprisingly calm chapter of my life. Home base is my hometown of Minneapolis. Currently I work full time as the cultural events coordinator of Minneapolis-St Paul's Alliance Française Chapter. I also freelance translating and interpreting (primarily in French, but some in Spanish as well). I've taught English abroad, volunteered on farms and learned how to make latte art in my lifetime and plan on many more weird adventures and experiences to come.
I'm a nerd for languages, from learning the odd word in a language I don't know to challenging myself to write in the foreign languages I've formally studied. I'm also passionate about food, education, access to healthcare and justice in both the legal sense and the broader idea of equity.
I pride my ability to adapt to all kinds of people & situations without sacrificing my sense of identity and right to express my opinions. I’ve been told on several occasions I’m surprisingly direct for a Midwesterner.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’ve traveled a fair amount & participated in CS events in the U.S., France & Norway. I love that CS makes people who outwardly seem to have little in common come together & I hope to continue meeting people of all types & bonding over our adventures (& the mundane too).

Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
A variety, but a lot of 50s-60s girl groups (the Ronettes, the Crystals, the Marvelettes, the Shangri-Las, etc.), rock/country-influenced rock classics (Wanda Jackson, Neil Young, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, etc.) & more DIY punk & metal (Bugg, Songs for Moms, Ragana, Nature Boys) & just music I find beautiful in general (Angel Olsen, Leonard Cohen) among many many more.
Authors:
Albert Camus, George Orwell, Jeanette Winterson, Joan Didion, Kurt Vonnegut, Tom Robbins, Margaret Atwood.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm a relatively experienced cook, and have gardened/farmed, though these are both skills I'd like to expand my knowledge of.
I'm also a pretty big nerd when it comes to being critical about media through various channels, English grammar, some (mostly U.S. focused) radical history, immigration & labor law, and music. I really love music.
And I love learning and practicing the languages I know & learning about new ones as well.
