About Me

I grew up on a remote hill where my parents regenerated a piece of degraded land, a forest, and thus a small stream. They always wanted to start a school where children learn to live and let live. Since convincing other parents about education beyond textbooks and certificates, they could never actually start that school the way they wanted. I was lucky, I got to learn life to its fullest. :) Obviously, I got no formal education, but I have learned enough to live and let live happily. (By the way, this means learning more, learning relevant, and keep on learning.)

Currently, I am working as a Web developer in a not-for-profit. My partner and I tried to create a learning space for everyone on the same remote hill. We used our income and time for the same. It didn't work out the way we envisaged. Currently, my three little blessings, Hiranya(13), Parthan(10), and Chinmayi(7), and I stay together. They too are learning life using all possible opportunities.

I travel for learning new things. This year I am planning to travel for learning more about outdoor learning and Forest Schooling.

(I haven't done my paid verification because $60 is a bit steep when converted to my currency and I don't travel that often)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet people from other countries and cultures.
To talk with people with a different perspective so that I get clarity on ideas.
If possible cook and share one or two meals/recipes with the hosts. :)

(I am no master chef. I know a few Indian items and I know them pretty well)

Interests

I believe art and culture are languages beyond borders. Education is the practice of life and kids need an updated system that helps them to live and let live. I am learning more about this.

Tech, used in a sustainable way, can help people. I learn it not just for my work, it excites my head and heart.
I grew up learning how to make grass-thatched houses. Now I work on wood, bamboo, and mud constructions in our future campus.

I grew up in a culture where dance is mostly only for performance, not for relaxation. I hope to forget my inhibitions and learn to dance like normal someday.
