About Me

CURRENT MISSION
To make the world a better place. Strategically, through policy and communication.

ABOUT ME

I've lived in Raleigh since 2013 and I love it. Before coming to NC, I lived in St. Paul for 20 years, and have been very fortunate to get to do a lot of travel though less in the last few years!

My work has been for nonprofits, and state and local governments, doing policy and problem-solving. I feel passionate about making the world a better place and it's fun for me to do that strategically.

I have two sweet cats.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've made some very good friends couchsurfing! I was generously hosted in CA quite a bit, and I couchsurfed in Raleigh when I came to find my apartment - one of my hosts here is a good friend now!

Other friends have done great travel this way - it's like a lovely cultural exchange and you get a whole different experience of a town.

Interests

Hanging out with friends, quirky movies with happy endings, cooking (potatoes are my favorite food), yoga, meditation, being near water, animals, especially my kitties.

Music, Movies, and Books

Alternative music, my friends' CDs, Coastal Living, The Economist.
Anything by Tim Dorsey (who writes about Southern Florida and has a goofy cast of characters involved in lives of crime).
Movies: Best in Show

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In India, one host was an exec with Assam Oil. I got to climb up an oil rig, metal steps in the rain, in a hard hat, watch the drill bit being changed (a very long process) and was served tea in the foreman's shack at the top of the rig.

And swimming with Flipper's grandson Talon in the Florida Keys was incredible. Although Flipper has more than one grand-dolphin.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know how to organize people and get things done, lots of public policy experience, and used to teach meditation, still could... I make a fantastic salad and can cook a potato at least 10 ways you will like.

Always interested in seeing how other people cook!
