About Me

Sunshine really is my last name. I know, it's crazy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people and I think the best way to get to know a place is with the help of someone who knows it well.

Unfortunately, I can't host at the moment because I live in a tiny shoebox in Manhattan, but I'm happy to show visitors around the city!

Interests

Nothing beats a good dance party. Or the way just-poured milk looks as it swirls into coffee.

Some of my other favorite things include traveling, science, music, books, mountainous backpacking, Dippin' Dots, hazily-planned road trips, impressionism, good-spirited intramural soccer (or futbol, sorry!) , kickboxing , the pottery studio, "leaf peeping", running without a route, drinking beer at a baseball game, and hippies.

Music, Movies, and Books

Food: I love Thai, Indian, Japanese and Chinese cuisines but if I could only eat three foods for the rest of my life, they would be blueberry bagels, applesauce, and Rice Krispies.

Books/Authors -- My insides are filled with book worms. Some books I've read recently and LOVED are "Swamplandia!" by Karen Russell, "Complexity: A Guided Tour" by Melanie Mitchell, "The Year of Magical Thinking" by Joan Didion, "Consider the Lobster" by DFW, "Woman in the Dunes" by Kobo Aba, "I Am a Strange Loop" by Doug Hofdstader, "Unscientific America" by Chris Mooney, "CivilWarLand in Bad Decline" by George Saunders. "Left Hand of Darkness" by Ursula Le Guin, and "The End of the Affair" by Graham Greene.

Music -- It's difficult for me to make a reasonably sized list of favorite artists. My parents were hippies, so I grew up on jam bands and classic rock. I'm also big into heartfelt singer-songwriters, indie rock, electronica etc. I go to a fair amount of shows and festivals.

TV -- The Wire, Broad City, It's Always Sunny, Parks and Rec, Game of Thrones, Key & Peele, Archer, BBC nature shows, West Wing, Seinfeld, The Daily Show, I like to pretend Lost never happened
