HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm an active host and have hosted travelers from all over the world in the last 12+ years. I like this idea of hosting travelers to meet people from around the world, I believe apart from getting to know people, it broadens your views and thought process. I believe, I'm personally enriched a lot from interacting with people from different cultures, ethnicity, beliefs and countries."If you couldn't go see the world, Make the world come to your home" - this is what I like about CS the most :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

This is the most exciting thing that has happened to me. I always loved to have friends and meet new people. I also travel .. not through package trips.. but through the soul and sands of the land. With CS, its possible to meet people from all over the world right at your door step who bring varied experiences and ideas! I'm always a listener and like to listen to people who travel a lot. They have exciting stories and experiences to share. Travelers give so much of insight about my own country that sounds totally new to me. It's like I'm starting to see my country, people and culture from a different perspective.

Intereses

I'm into photography from my childhood. Its my passion. I'm mostly into people shooting and street photography. I love to portray simple people and their simple lives and beliefs.

Música, películas y libros

I watch most of new Tamil movies.. and popular English ones too. Telugu movies fascinate me lately. I like to watch humorous and action movies.

In English, I listen to classics, soft rock and jazz. In Tamil, Its always Ilayaraja who warms my soul.

I'm not into lengthy novels/books after college. I regularly follow Better Photography, Overdrive, and Digit magazines. Engadget is my fav online read for technology and gadgets, and DP Review for photography gears and equipment.

We undertake lot of social projects at my rotary club. When I was the President of my Rotary club(Rotary Club of Madurai North) in 2013-14, I organised a free Cardio screening camp partnering with the Chettinad hospitals, Chennai. Chettinad hospitals agreed to perform free surgeries to deserving patients who will be identified from the screening camp. Madurai District collector was involved and Inaugurated the camp. Out of 600+ patients who came for the camp, 47 patients were identified for free surgeries and they were taken to chennai and got operated for their cardio ailments. Being a part of this project to save 47 lives partnering with various people and organisations, will stay close to my heart forever!

I could share with my guests the interesting history of south India, it's culture, political system and its rich heritage.

In the process of hosting travelers from all over the world, I hope to know more on anthropology, history and political systems of different countries, people's habits, beliefs, values and people's perception on life and religion!

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

I can offer a decent private space to stay. I prefer to host travelers two days maximum. Usually I'm occupied with my profession and social activities, if I'm free I can go around with my guests, or pls excuse me.

I can talk and explain my city's History and culture in detail. I can tell you awesome and unique things about Madurai. Not many knew that Madurai is a culinary delight with so many different kind of restaurants. I can suggest unique places for Veg or Non Veg food and come along for a street food safari if i'm free.

I can share my high-speed wifi.
