About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Try to make a difference in this world to the people that are less lucky than I am, if that is economically, emotionally or socially

ABOUT ME

My best friend calls me a "wicked women" and since he knows me best...(but don't ask me what he actually means by that, though ;-)

I think I have a very open personality, very curious about anything and anyone, without being too nosy I hope. As most of you traveling people or CS hosts, I 'd love to see the whole world and get to know all the different ways of living your life. We only have one, so why waste it with a metro-boulot-dodo mentality ?

However, I used to be very ambitious, and I probably still am it a bit right now, but the more I 've traveled, the more I 've realized that it is merely a nice packaging to sell ourselves in this Western society, but that nothing of it all really matters to the persons who see us as who we truly are.

As you can guess from all the above, I love to talk philosophy, or politics or just the daily stuff for that matter (maybe I just like to talk ?), as long as it can be enjoyed with some nice Belgian beers and a lot of laughter. Too serious for too long is too much.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't dream your life, live your dream !

I think too many people keep postponing that one thing they really want to make happen in their life and before they know it, the opportunity is gone and they stay behind empty handed.

After my long travel, a dream I had ever since I was 18 years old, I was afraid to have to continue without a dream left, but don't worry, once one dream has come true, the next one is already waiting to be realized :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

By getting as many people as possible interested in this community. Not only for the obvious reasons of finding a couch for the night, if not more for the cultural exchange that this membership has to offer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I signed up after talking to a friend I met during my long travel through South East Asia, but haven't had a lot of CS experiences yet.
In Saigon, Vietnam, Natasha the piano teacher was so nice to take me and some other CS'ers out for Vietnamese TET New Year.
Later in Malaysia I got together with Reen, who was willing to make some time available for me to show me the hot spots of the nigth life.

Interests

Since I 'm quite curious, I 'm involved in quite a lot of activities : chairman of our local volleybal team, playing theater, trying to keep me in shape in the fitness room, occassionaly going for a swim, dreaming of writing my own novel one day and feeding my social life.

Music, Movies, and Books

For the moment, my job and hobbies are taking too much of my time to catch up with the reading or to go and see a good movie. In general, I think I 'm a bit of a koekiemonster, as long as it is not too niche, I will be happy with it.

However, a book I can advice to everyone is the Celestine Prophecy, but only read it when you feel you are ready for it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most impressive view I 've ever had, are the Iguazu waterfalls on the border of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. You feel so small next to this enormous power of nature that it makes you think about all the important and unimportant things in life.

Teach, Learn, Share

Try to be your true self, regardless of what others might think or say. Still learning myself though ;-)

One major project I am currently involved in, is trying to help out this orphanage in Takeo - Cambodia. I volunteered there a while doing all marketing stuff to get more people come and visit the place and to build some relations with local and foreign authorities in order to secure their financial basic income. Please take the time to go visit their website www.newfuturesorphanage.com and don't hesitate to pay them a visit whenever in Cambodia.

Countries I’ve Visited
