About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Befriend the world

ABOUT ME

My name's Hassan, I'm 23 years old and I'm a recently qualified doctor. I've been living in Newcastle since moving up for university back in 2007.

I like to think I am clever, confident, cocky, caustic, cultured and a whole lot of other words beginning with 'C', but not that bad C-word you're all thinking of (shame on you).

I'm full of ideas and ambitions, but few of my grand plans come to realisation because I have a tendency to put things off. Nevertheless, I like my life and the things I do, hence I give my condition the following designation: 'procrastic fantastic'.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in myself. I know my strengths and I'm aware of my weaknesses. I try to build on my strengths and work on my weaknesses. It's key to my confidence and central to my happiness.

I like change, I enjoy being challenged and I like venturing outside my comfort zones. A dynamic way of life is most fulfilling.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined back in 2008, but I've only just started getting involved.

I hope to attend local CS events, to surf and (eventually when I have my own place) to host too. I think I'd make a pretty good tour guide of Newcastle.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Just getting started.

Interests

I enjoy dance, whether it's dancing like a maniac in a bar or club or dancing a passionate Argentine Tango for an audience.

I'm a languages and linguistics geek, not in the academic sense, but more like an amateur wordsmith.

I'm a man of few vices. I don't smoke, drink or take any (non-prescription) drugs...I just don't need any form of chemical high. You'll see why when you meet me :-)

I love food. I eat out a lot and I'm not too bad at cooking either. I like baking because I have a sweet tooth. I'm a pescatarian when I travel, which can be a bit awkward at times, but I usually get by.

I also watch far too much TV and my favourites include:

Other things I like:
Gaming; medicine, sociology and health; different cultures and traditions; PostSecret, analysing people, making new friends to the point of social-whoring, sarcasm, puns and much more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I haven't seen much in my short time on this earth, but holding a beating human heart in my hand is definitely the most amazing thing I've ever done!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not that great at it, but I could probably teach you to dance the Argentine Tango.

I have a little bit of knowledge to impart about British culture and history. I can even tell you some stuff about my own cultural heritage and history if you're interested.

Ooh here's a good one, I can teach you to make an origami frog that jumps!

I'm willing to learn whatever you want to teach. Whether it's in my comfort zones learning a new language or if I'm way out of my element trying to play sport or do something that requires motor coordination greater than that of a 3 year old - I'm open-minded, happy to learn and I'll give it a try.
