Overview
About Me
I grew up in Texas (Dallas, then moved to Austin for college), then moved north to Chicago in 2011. I spent a few years there (it was lovely), got married, got a couple of kitties to accompany my dog, and decided to go back to school! I got my MA in Communication at NEIU in 2017, and now I'm in Indiana getting my PhD.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We have a spare bedroom in our quiet little community. Plus, I figure that I'll travel someplace myself eventually, and couchsurfing seems like a good way to meet people.
Interests
I enjoy geocaching, riding my bike, kayaking, finding new restaurants, exploring a new bar scene, and generally being around delightful people.
Music, Movies, and Books
Favorite books/authors: Stranger in a Strange Land, Godmother Night, Haruki Murakami, House of Leaves, Stephen King
Movies: It depends, but in general I loved Juno, I adore Pixar movies, and I like crime dramas.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have hugged a panda. True story.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teaching: Everything you ever wanted to know about Texas, from a Texan. Effective public speaking and rhetoric. Debate.
Learning: Astronomy and related topics. Personal belief systems, and why you believe what you believe. Culture in general.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm all about teaching my hosts to geocache if they're interested. I'm also a pretty good cook/baker.
It's also worth noting that although I'm happy to host any gender, I rarely stay with men. Although 99.9% of couchsurfers are delightful, welcoming, and kind, as a female traveler, I am cautious of the .1%.
