About Me

Tschou zäme! My name is Sarujan and I am 23 years old. I am based in Switzerland. Fun facts about me: I love coffee, i even have two tattoos of it. So my perfect day starts at 7 am outside riding my bike, going to a coffeeshop to drink coffee. Yeah I know it could be the life of 70 years old - but it is how it is. But thats does not mean that I don‘t love beer😉. I am quite funny, I love puns (mostly in German, but I should start in English as well.)

I am on couchsurfing because I don‘t want just to stay in the backpacker bubble. Travelling is more than meeting backpacker in your hostel. When I travel, I want to meet people from the country, who show me more about their history, culture and their aspects of unterstanding life. So if I host you, maybe I can show you my bicultural understanding of life as a Tamil and a Swiss?:) and you show me yours! Understanding in a sense of philosophical, moral or other aspects.

I am a historian and a barista, so I can tell some good storied which happened back in time during making coffee:)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

That’ s my first time on couch surfing. I am here, because I want to meet new people and learn something about their culture. I also might improve my language skills. Furthermore as a host I want to give the people the opportunity to travel and meet native people from the country.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

As a historian, I have a faible for churches. So I wanted to see that small church in a small town in Turkey. But sadly the church was closed because it was off season. So I wanted to leave but then an old man (seemed to be the gatekeeper of the church) came to me and offered me to open the church just for me. I denied because I was afraid that he wanted money. But I was wrong. He opened the church, explained me the history and then later he offered me even a tea, without even asking for money. This hospitability was something I ve never seen in life. Sometimes we (especially Westeuropeans) think always that everything has a price but I asked myself, does it really?
