CURRENT MISSION
Love, live and be happy doing it!
ABOUT ME
I believe in the one that says ''The only thing in this world we can really change is ourselves" and I try to live by it.
I love open minded people that speak their mind. I really apreciate getting to know all sorts of people and characters and even if we don't agree about something I think that people can have a good time argumenting their points of vieew. Maybe that's my professional deformation, bit I highly value a well argumented opinion even if I don't agree with it :). I always try to see both sides of the coin.
One thing I really don't understand is cruelty.
I am very ecologically oriented and I just detest the people that don't pick up their garbage, leave the air conditioning on while they are out or destroy nature in any way. So even if that's not your thing, try to recpect it while we hang together.
I'm an eternal optimist, but not the one that gets disapointed if things don't work out the best they could. I just know from personal experience that positive thinking always makes things a bit easier. People often (but really often) tell me that I am too lucky, I just think it's the power of optimistic thinking.
From the other side, I try to remember you can learn something even from the most difficult situations in life, and that understanding what that is gives a little sense in why do some things have to happen. If you need time to get over it, take it, but before becoming depressed, find that lesson and learn to value life more because of it.
I also believe in the best of people. That's the main reason I participate in CS and that's why I always give a person my full trust from the beginning until they loose it, insted of not trusting somebody until they win my trust. Somebody may find it stupid, but I made many valuable friends very fast because of that, and I lost some bad people before they could suck on me for to long. So, in the end of things I think I gained more, even with the ones I lost.
Lastly, I love animals! And here I must admit that in spite of all my openmindnes, if my dog doesn't like somebody I trust her instincts more than mine. So, that's about it :)
PHILOSOPHY
Kant's imperative is one of my life guidelines and it says:
"Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of any other, always at the same time as an end and never merely as a means to an end."
From the first time I heard it until this day I always find new depth in that single sentence.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Sometimes I don't see the CS request on time and people tend to ask what to do while they are here so I think this is a good place to put
MY WHAT TO DO LIST:
First I'm going to assume you like wild nature and good parties and that you are on foot and located in center.
For good places to go out in the town centre there is not much possibilities. If you are in commercial house music you want to go to Pietas Julia. It's a bar-disco with the tacky flashlight that you can always see in the sky. It is located right under the Colloseum, on the waterfront. There you can find pizza until 4am and it's the latest you can eat in city.
The next disco with mixed music is nearby, and it's called Uljanik (just ask directions from anyone in city). It's located two blocks from the Golden Gate. This is the most popular (read only) real disco in center of the city. It works until 6am so it's a good place to go when everything else closes.
If you are into some alternative music (from D&B, hard rock, metal ect) you may want to check Rojc. It's a old military building that these days is used by different associations of young people. Just walk arround it until you find an entrance, it's a bit of a labirinth but that's the charm of it. It closes at 2am and it's located near Uljanik (from the Uljanik entrance walk the stairs on the left, just keep straight thrue the park and still straight one block down the street you come across).
And while we are in the center of the city, here are a few tips on places where you can buy buzz and fast food after midnight. All fast foods and news stands that sell liquor are located near the Arena. Ask the locals for the "old bus station" or "the FINA building" and then just look arround for a big crowd of people standing in a line (yeah, we never buy drinks on time!). There are two fast foods and a beckery that work until 2am and two news stands that sell buzz until 1am.
You can find me in some of my fav rock bars - Rock Cafe and Mimoza, the latest (Mimoza) is a real metal-rock bar that sometimes has great live performances of local artists. It's 10min walk from the Colloseum in the Santorionova street).
If you are into some beter places to party you should take the cheapest taxy (15kn/2euro for up to 5km, 1 stop) - taxy Cameo (tel: 060-700-700) and go to Medulin (beach bars Barakuda, Sunshine, disco Dali ect.)
My personal favorite this summer is LMC club, it's a cool open-air disco located near Bale (some 25km from Pula) and you pay about 90-100 kn for a Cameo cab (that's for four people). Be smart and come before midnight because most of the nights there's a free entrance until then. The prices are resonable, and if you are into VIP, for 500-600kn you can have a personal separe for 6ppl and a botle of votka.
For turistic areas there are Medulin, Premantura and Fažana all about 10km from Pula and connested with buses until 9pm.
In Medulin (bus line 25 or 25a) you can find many bars, restaurants, bench sales and the shallowest sand beach arround).
In Premantura (bus line 28) you must visit the RtKamenjak it's a nature park with many beautifull beaches and totally rustical beach bars. My fav beach is Debeljak, and the must see beach bar is "Safari bar". The problem with RtKamenjak is that it is not really walk friendly. If you are on foot you should take the Premantura bus, exit the first station in Premantura and take the street on your right, walk about 200-300m and rent a bike (I don't know the prices), because RtKamenjak is about 10km of gravel road. In the center of Premantura there are also many bars, restaurants and bench sales)
In Fažana (bus line 21) you must take a boat to Brijuni. It is a breathtakeing national park consisted of 14 islands). The boat trip is 200kn, but in june and september you can ask for a 50% discount. The visitors train is included but I prefear to rent a bike for additional 80kn and drive arround myself.
For touristic beaches check out the Verudela beaches. It's a small peninsula with beaches all arround
If you have a pet or just love wild beaches I suggest Stoja. To reach my fav in town beach take the Stoja bus, exit on the last station and DON'T go to the camp but proceed on foot to your right (by the sea, the opposite way from wich the bus came). You will pass the "Big Mamma" beach bar and come to a gate. Through the gate on your left start some very nice beaches, but my personal favorite is located just 15min further. It is called "the Seaguill rocks" and it's the place where the Mediteranian monk seal tends to be seen out of season-one of the most endangered mammals in the world. The point is, pick up your garbage when you finish and be eco-friendly!!! To acces that one you should walk a bit further from the first gate, to the second one, enter there and go straight until the road turns left. There you leave the road and proceed by a deserted yellow house and right to the stairs and down to the beach. Don't be surprised, you will be passing through a "Croatian War of Indipendence" refugees camp.
That's it from me for now, as I'm late for work (!!!).
I hope you love Pula as much as I do!
Oh, oh, oh... I forgot the Fratarski Island!!! It's a fantastic and my favorite place to camp cheaply or just go for a day of swimming. You can also bring your meat (and coal!) as you have barbeques for common use. The boat ride is about 10kn per pers, the camp spot is 15kn for the tent and 10 for each person. You can reach it by taking the Verudela bus, exiting on the last stop, follow the circular intersection to the third (or fourth?) exit - you follow the "Bunarina marina" and drink a coffie on the dock until the next "Danica" boat goes. They go every half an hour, you buy the ticket on the boat.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I had the best first couch surfing experience in Flagstaff almost by mistake! I must say I wasn't sure it is a good idea, but Daniel hosted many surfers that night because they planed a Grand Canyon hike and everyone of those people and their experiences made me sure I want to be a part of this world. Since then I
didn't host a lot because I had a bit of catching up with my studies, but the people I did host were everything I expected from this society.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like all sorts of reading, but fantasy is my favorite. R.R.Martin's Song of ice and fire is actual. I also loved Tolkien and think the Lord of the Ring movies are the only ones that rapresent the book well. I've been gladly reading Grisham (good books, bad endings...literally) and Wilbur Smith (a bit naive characters, but all in all good, light literature to take you "travelling in Africa"). I love rereading the Jonathan Livingston book because I get it diferently every time.
I'm not a big fan of TV. Actually I never watch TV, but I do have some favorite movies.
I listen to many kinds of music, but when I turn on music only for myself it's mostly rock.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Swimmed in a smerald sea, spent a month in the wild, hiked a snow covered mountain, went downhill another with a bike, got a dog, meet a friend, traveled, loved, lived and much more
Teach, Learn, Share
If there is something I know better than you I would like to share. Maybe you want to learn a bit of Italian or Croatian, or how to fish, build a tent, read a hiking trail, or you are interested in economics or law... I could maybe help with that
But I think the most valuable thing we can learn from each other is the way we see the world. I would love to learn about different cultures, so I hope to meet people willing to share
