Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

To connect the world in such a way as this is an amazing feat. I have always heard of people traveling the world; and I have always wondered how someone might be able to do so on such a tight budget. It has always felt like something far out of reach. But with an idea such as this, it is possible. People helping people to really connect; more than just through some piece of engineered and animated community on a website, but the reality of actually coming on contact in the physical world. Quite a feat.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

While I have not yet been able to fully use this for all it is worth, this summer I am planning to backpack through Europe and hope that I will be able to find some kind souls to take me in. I have, at home, hosted a few surfers, who were wonderfully considerate and excited to be in my city, St. Louis, which I feel I must take for granted everyday. We all know that the newness and excitement of a place can wear off easily; while sharing it with others, it helps reinvent the way you view where you live by reexperiencing it through the eyes of another
