About Me
Hey everyone! My name is Aleks (Sasha) and my husband Boris (Borya) and I are both originally from Moldova, but met in NY where we both lived when we immigrated to the states. As a lawyer and logistics manager by trade, we felt unsatisfied in our lives and felt the need to seek something different. Our first adventure was selling our stuff, moving out of our apartment, and heading on the road for several months driving from the east to west coast of the US car camping in our SUV. We ended up finding out about housesitting and had amazing opportunities all over the world now.
We loved the animals and the local experience, but also meeting the people was the highlight of our time there.
Now we traded in our SUV for two backpacks and set off with a one way ticket to Tokyo. We have been traveling for about a year doing a mixture of backpacking, housesitting, car camping, and staying up all night wandering new cities. We love public transportation, hitchhiking, and prefer land over flying so we can see as much as possible.
We want to try couch surfing because we love the local life and want to experience staying somewhere with hosts as well. House sitting allowed us only a minimal time with the owners, but yet all of them have become great friends.
We love meeting new people, learning about the culture, and discovering new terrains on foot.
We are both mainly vegan/vegetarian but don't let that scare you as we don't judge or preach. We aren't heavy drinkers but we can definitely hold our liquor.
We both speak Russian as well as English fluently. I speak Spanish as well with a little French. And we are both now learning Japanese as well as hoping to learn from all the new countries we visit.
We love nature and feel most at peace surrounded by the mountains.
Although, we are completely adaptable and can make the most of any situation.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We would love the opportunity to meet new friends and believe in paying forward any kindness we receive. We have received a lot and in turn nothing makes us happier than being able to do something for someone else.
We look forward to a new wave experiences to come from this new venture on CouchSurfing!

Music, Movies, and Books
We love comedy! Anything that can make us laugh is always a winner. Musically our tastes are very eclectic and we love everything from hip hop, reggae, old school, rock, alternative, indie and all the generational (50s, 60s, 70s, etc). Also, some nice jazz or any live music is great. We ultimately enjoy anything we can connect with and that has a good sound, we're not picky or stick to any genre.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Went to North Korea. We have a lot of great stories from there!
Teach, Learn, Share
We have many different things to teach or share, as we feel everyone does. It's hard to narrow anything down, we feel each situation and person brings out something different that's unique to them.
We are both very open and love to share anything that we can do or know to help.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Boris is a phenomenal cook and we have cooked for all of the homeowners that we have house sat for. It's the best way to share our gratitude and give a piece of our heart as he always cooks with love.
We have plenty of fun stories from our adventures and would love to share our photos and funny videos with you as well as hear yours.
Mostly, we both have a really positive energy and vibe that we would love to connect with someone who understands the power of being around someone who has the same.
