About Me

G’day!

I’m Sasha! I’m honest, accepting, easy going, and compassionate, with a zest for life and deep desire to connect with everyone who crosses my path.
I am very open-minded and open-hearted, and love to learn about other people and their different ways of life, and what really makes them tick.

I am queer, vegan, feminist, and what I know of my life purpose at this point in time, is that I want to spread love, and do everything in my power to end inequality in all its forms (and heck, i also want to save the planet while I’m at it!)

I grew up next to the beautiful beaches in Noosa, and for the last 10 years I’ve lived between Aus and the UK/Europe following whatever brings me joy. I gave university a go for a few years studying a range of things from philosophy to French, anthropology to communication, but in the end I wasn't happy when I was studying - and life is too short not to be happy!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m so fortunate to have lived what feels like so many different chapters; I’ve worked in a Buddhist community, as a travel agent, an au pair, managing a fashion store, and most recently in the public sector as a tech project manager. After seeing many of my friends recently leave the workforce to focus on full time activism, I decided to leave my wonderful community in York, England, and return to my homeland. I no longer feel the pressure to have a “career,” nor work in the current system, so I’m taking time off to immerse myself in fresh experiences, stepping away from the desk and the screen, and see what inspiring adventures life has in store for me next. The last 6 months have been a complete dream, moving around between festivals and friend's places and fully living in the art of saying 'yes'... I've always loved hosting "strangers" (aka new friends), and love to move around through couch surfing to connect with kind people and new adventures in new places. I am so happy to hang with hosts, and also very respectful of where others are at if they want their own space, there is never any need to entertain me - I am very content in my own company too.

Interests

A little more about me... I love being outside in the elements, camping, hiking, rock climbing, swimming in the ocean, laughing (I feel that’s an interest worth putting down!), reading, meditating, dancing, cooking, and reggae, reggae, reggae. For the last 4 years I have dedicated much of my time helping organise burning man regional festivals around Europe, which I love for too many reasons to list - but primarily I thrive off the creativity, the playfulness, immediacy, the care for Mother Earth, feeling like i’m in the company of ‘my people’ where i feel most understood, and the opportunity to learn from and contribute with physical and creative tasks that bring the events together for everyone to enjoy. I like to get my hands dirty and believe that everything worth doing is worth doing well... and, from a place of authenticity, and with a smile on my face :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Jack Kerouac, Aldous Huxley, Krishnamurti, Naomi Klein, Naomi Alderman, George Monbiot

Teach, Learn, Share

Over the next few months I would love to continue seeking opportunities to meet like-minded folks, share ideas/learn from alternative ways of living, live genuinely, spontaneously, get more experience working on the land and with building stuff, permaculture, sustainability, and (as always) work on my relationship with myself and my/our collective spirituality and consciousness..

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have a lot of reflections and ramblings on the nature of life, and always try to offer my full presence with the people around me so that I can try to understand their own. I'm also here to help out with anything you need!
