ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Sasha! I'm originally from Los Angeles, but I currently live in Strasbourg, France. I've been in France for four? five? years now, but I love travelling and exploring new places, so I'm not ready to call France home just yet. I love travelling, meeting new people, and learning new things!

PHILOSOPHY

I'm still working on this one, but right now, I'm trying to make the most of every day and live my life to the fullest!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hosted a few Couchsurfers with my partner Manu while I was living in Los Angeles, and we had nothing but great experiences! I would love to try surfing on an upcoming holiday! I'm open to hosting CSers depending on my work schedule, but if not, I'd love to meet up. I consider Strasbourg my home, and I would be happy to show you some of the best local sites, eats, etc.!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm still relatively new to all of this! I've hosted a handful Couchsurfers, but I've never surfed myself... All of the Couchsurfers I've met have been wonderful, so I'm hoping to get more involved (hosting and surfing!) in the CS community this year.

Interests

I love hiking, biking, going to the beach, hula hooping, crocheting, drawing, painting, playing ukulele, doing yoga, travelling, exploring, learning new languages, and meeting new people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am obsessed with the Beatles, the Kinks, and the Police. I'm also a huge fan of electro swing (Parov Stelar!) and Ratatat. Although more generally I like rock, electronica, reggae, and classical music.

I love reading, both in English and French. I'm a big fan of the Beat Generation, especially Kerouac. I just finished Hubert Selby Jr.'s Last Exit to Brooklyn, and I'm currently reading a collection of Dutch short stories in translation.

As far as movies go, I love cinema in general, although I am particularly interested in foreign (especially French) and independent films. I'm into all genres except horror movies...not really my thing haha.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It's not really "one" thing, but my travels (or travelling is general) have opened my eyes and helped me to see the world differently. I've had the privilege of meeting beautiful people, exploring beautiful cities, and learning and listening to beautiful languages.

Teach, Learn, Share

We can practice yoga together!

I can teach you English! I've been teaching English off and on for around 4 years now. I can also teach you French. I learned French as a second language, but I studied French in college and have tutored French in the United States. And if you speak a language other than English or French, I'd love if you could teach me some! I'm currently learning German and Dutch (I'm terrible at both).

I can also teach you how to crochet! I LOVE crocheting and can teach you how to make all sorts of fun things like hats, scarves, sweaters, decorations, etc.

I love to cook! So maybe we can cook together :) I'm vegan, so I could teach you how to make some of my favorite vegan dishes (I promise that vegan food can actually be delicious!!).

I like hoop-dancing! I usually travel with a hoop, so I can teach you to hula hoop if you like. Or if you're already a hooper, maybe we can jam together with some good music! :)

I play the ukulele, and I also [try to] sing ;). My partner Manu plays the guitar, ukulele, and keyboard, so if you like jamming, we could make music together :)
