About Me

CURRENT MISSION

WWOOFing my way across the United States. A peaceful and adventurous life is for me.

ABOUT ME

I'm 53 years old and enjoy living the outdoor life. I grew up in Bend, Oregon spending my winters skiing on Mt. Bachelor and summers swimming and rafting the Deschutes River. My daughter Sam is 26 and lives in California working as a music producer and sound mixer.

I've spent most of my life working in the software industry doing various things--technical writer, database administrator, and proposal and production manager. Even tried a stint as an elementary school teacher. When I turned 50 I realized the years ahead were dwindling fast and if I wanted to live a happy life, now was the time to do it. A few months later I was spending time in Hawaii and met a fellow traveler at the Northshore Hostel in Wailuku who described himself as a WWOOFer and was heading out to a farm in Hana. As he described the WWOOFing life, I was hooked and knew that was what I was looking for.

In my first guest-worker job I was the caretaker of a 15 acre ranch in the Southern California mountains near Julian for two years. Next were three shorter-term WWOOFing jobs--caring for 150 Alaskan Huskies near Mt. Bachelor in Oregon, a retreat center in Ashland, Oregon, and most recently at an organic farm in Dragoon, Arizona. Each experience has been unique and have met the most wonderful people from all over the world who share my love of living the free and adventurous life.

In addition to WWOOFing I'm also a yoga therapist and enjoy hiking, meditation, classical music, salsa dancing and amazing books.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Planning on surfing and happily exchange yoga therapy for a comfy couch.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None so far, will be a new experience.

Interests

I'm experimenting with breath and allowing. If I just focus on my breath, all the time, then my mind quiets down and i'm present. From this space of experience I allow life to come to me. It's a nice way to live. A work in progress to be sure.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitchhiked from Pueblo, Colorado to Guaymas, Mexico. Started out with no food or money. During my entire trip I always had food and money. I learned an amazing life lesson. If I conquer fear and just do what my heart yearns and dreams to do, I will be supported and loved in every way possible and usually beyond my wildest imagining.

Teach, Learn, Share

In my younger days I was a salsa dance instructor so happy to teach others how to dance. Can also provide yoga therapy. A gentle and relaxing experience to ease the stresses of life and help with nagging back and neck pain.
