About Me

ABOUT ME

Entrepreneur, film-lover, foodie, music enthusiast, traveler!
-
When I was in my early twenties I backpacked for years, traveling and living in many different places.
Along the way I have couch surfed quite a few times and made many friends abroad.
(I also used to love hosting)
5 years ago I started my own company and I haven't really been able to travel much or couch surf since then.
Now I would like to slowly get back into it to explore new places and meet people!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love traveling alone - and couch surfing is the perfect added element for a solo traveler!
Aside from the social aspect, you need some local advice to optimize your trip and get the most out of the experience :)

Music, Movies, and Books

-Music
I like a lot of different types of music, but the main genre I listen to the most is electronic music.
Depending on the time of day and the mood, this can range between ambient/down tempo to drum and bass/jungle :)

-Movies
Some directors I like: Richard Linkletter, Darren Aronofsky, David Lynch, Cristopher Nolan.
Some actors I like: Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Ethan Hawke.
Some movies I like: Enter The Void, A Scanner Darkly, Waking Life, Inception.

-Books
I mostly read non-fiction (philosophy) books, but now I'm reading Lord Of The Rings (and loving it)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In early 2013, when I was in Chiang Mai, Thailand, I took a 10-day Vipassana meditation course, completely secluded from civilisation. Just me, some fellow students of meditation and one monk, who was our teacher.
During our stay we were not allowed to talk. Nor could we bring anything with us, as it would distract us from our meditations.
All there was to do was meditate. After a couple of days I got the hang of it, and I can honestly say that meditation works.
As I see it, it's basically training the muscle that is your subconscious. It's a mental workout.
The feeling of suddenly being able to think clearly is truly amazing, and I have this experience to thank for that.
