ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm Alicia and I hail from the United States, Florida to be exact. I've been living in Europe for a little over three months now, started in England and then France to work at a summer camp and am now living in Hungary after a couple of short vacations in Paris and Scotland. I'm 23, have a B.A. in English from a University in Florida and have a TEFL certificate which is how I have a job here in Hungary, teaching English. I really signed up with this not to necessarily surf on anyone's couch, but to find friends in different cities that I will hopefully visit during my year in Hungary. So when I visit Budapest or Vienna, it would be lovely to meet people that are there also visiting or living who I can chat with or go out with.

PHILOSOPHY

Everything happens for a reason. Nothing good in life is easy but it's always worth the effort.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't actually couchsurfed yet. I've made friends with couchsurfing but haven't hosted or surfed. I hope to try soon, though!

Interests

I obviously love traveling, I get a bit of a high from going to new places and seeing the wonders they behold. I get a little antsy if I stay in one place too long and though I usually have a hard time of it getting lost or confused the first day or two in a new place, it always works out :) I love reading and do it constantly, the same with movies I love watching films. I get a little homesick sometimes and I'm used to traveling alone but I prefer to have company! I try to see as many things as possible in any city I go to without taking the tourist route of snapping a picture and leaving. I sat so long in the gardens of Versailles that I fell asleep, woke up, and just kept reading. I like to actually become a part of the environment. I like to dance and sing and attend musicals, plays, and concerts. When I'm at home in Florida I go to the beach every chance I get. It's stunning and a part of my soul, to be honest.

Music, Movies, and Books

I can enjoy any kind of movie, really. I prefer drama, fantasy, and musical more than horror, though. I don't really like horror films. I love reading books and would love to read any book you recommend! And music I love all kinds of music with the exception of rap and screaming hard metal. It hurts my ears! But anything else from classical to rock to broadway I'm game!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Standing at the top of Pike's Peak, a mountain in Colorado. Niagara Falls. The beaches of the Bahamas. Definitely Saint Malo, France, a stunning pirate town on the water. Luxembourg Gardens, Paris. Sunsets on the beach in Florida. Autumn in Tennessee. Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. Vienna, vienna, vienna! Every breath in Salzburg.
