About Me

+++ Up-to-date short description:

A peaceful introvert who dreams of a better world. "Be good to others, help where you can, choose peace, sanguinity, work towards a common good". Student of life, citizen of the world. A pragmatist, a realist, an agnostic idealist, an existentialist, and finally, a contemplative meditator.

CURRENT MISSION

Evolve and travel :)

ABOUT ME

Life is but an endless dream. Some of us sit back and enjoy the ride, see where it takes us. Others take initiative and try to shape the dream to their liking. Most are just content with the blissful illusion that surrounds them. But very few of us ever get to wake up and see the real world, as it truly is. Me? I have been dream-walking all my life, satisfied with where I am and what I have, yet always aware that there is something beyond. And now, more than ever, I yearn to awaken. Even if for a split moment, I want to open my eyes and glance at the genuine world. A breath of fresh air for my suffocating soul. Enlightenment...

...or something like that. I just wanted my profile to start poetically

I am a homely and peaceful type of person, who prefers to walk through life softly, one step at a time, and enjoy all gifts the world has to offer. My mum thinks I am too naive, too trusting, too kind, and too meek. She has a point. Yet that's who I am. A pacifist, who believes in good, helps strangers, trusts other people and wants to make the world better. Basically, a hippie boyscout :)

As much as I enjoy the comforts of my home and serenity of a peaceful life, I also find great joy in adventure. Which is why I travel as often as opportunity permits. Lately I have been in luck: I had the courage to quit my job, sell my precious laptop, and embark on a half-year journey through India! And this has been a most profound experience.

Fate was kind enough to spare me the habits of smoking, drinking alcohol, and using bad language. I never use drugs, I stay away from loud parties. "Live Fast, Die Young" is not my thing. Instead, through many books, people and experiences I have learned to appreciate little things, always aspire to a more purposeful existence, forget about the rat race and lead a moral life.

Speaking for the sake of speaking is not my thing. I like silence as much as I like music. But I always enjoy a good conversation.

Some of my other qualities: easy-going, calm, kind, thoughtful, open to new ideas, tolerant, responsible, sometimes impulsive, spontaneous, and ridiculously noble. Always looking on the bright side of things and trying to make the best of every situation. I like laughing. I love my friends and care for my family. My cat says: "You're a good guy, meow" (yes, I can understand cats); I also have a vivid imagination and a sense of humor :)

Some random stuff I like: rain, riding my bicycle, reading, writing, thinking, tea (lots of it) and life in general :)

PHILOSOPHY

"The purpose of life is a life of purpose"

Interests

::: TRAVELLING :::
I've opened myself to travelling not too long ago, but have enjoyed it so much that now I can't wait to leave home again and visit all the corners of our planet. Whether it's riding a train, climbing a mountain or walking the streets of an unfamiliar city, when I travel, I feel at peace. Breaking free from the daily routine life, replacing it with constant movement and discovery, and being far away from home - all that creates a spirit of adventure for me. It's too much of a pleasure to miss out on.

::: MOVIES :::
I'm a movie addict. For the past 5+ years I have been occupying a lot of my spare time with watching Hollywood films. It would be fair to say that movies have made an immense contribution to the development of my mind, tastes and ideology. These fine works of art inspire me, provide food for thought, and teach about the world and people in it. I also owe a great deal of my English to movies. Longlive cinema!

::: MUSIC :::
Well, obviously, I like music. Who doesn't? :) It makes life so much more fun! And if there's one thing I appreciate more than just music, it's a well-placed musical score in a movie. God, I just melt to such films! So, consequently, I'm a movie soundtrack junkie. That's what I listen to mostly: soundtracks. And in my boldest dreams I dare to hope to one day learn to play an instrument myself, a flute perhaps, or piano. All I need is time and some willpower.

::: FICTION & ROLEPLAYING :::
Routine life on a treadmill is quite boring. The "work sleep eat" cycle slowly erodes the remaining bits of sanity. So in order to stay alive, I submerge myself in fiction, which means either books/games/films with a deep and powerful story, or (more often) creating my own. I have a friend come over, we brainstorm a bit, and create a fictional world, tailor it to our tastes. We assign roles, make characters, and play this world like a game, often for several years. You can be a faction leader in one play, a criminal mastermind in another, and a valiant knight in third: whatever your heart desires! All it takes is a bit of imagination :)

::: SPIRITUALITY :::
Nowadays, more and more people open up to an idea that there is more to life than we know, and there is more to us than flesh and bone. I am no exception. Since early youth, I have been stumbling upon fragments of great teachings. Pieces of wisdom from here and there: bit by bit, they influenced me and changed the way I think. They made me a better person. But I have grasped only the tip of the iceberg; to unveil the rest will be my task for years to come. And so, I believe that one should always aspire to connect with one’s inner self, with other people, and the universe, be it through yoga, meditation, prayer, ascetism, vagabond or couch surfing :) Though I'm not a sanyasi type of person who has his mind bent on discovering the ultimate truth and attaining enlightenment. I'm an ordinary guy, who simply finds divine matters intriguing :)
