About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Walk the ends of earth

ABOUT ME

A bit shy and adequately skinny, quite friendly though. I think I'm finally starting to like Canada. Love, actually. Restless. Suffer from spirit of the stairway. Got a strange english accent. Love the great outdoors. Whales and big airplanes amuse and delight me.

PHILOSOPHY

the universe is made of googols of stories. make your contribution. overcome velleity. go. do.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Upon moving to Calgary, I started using CS for the first time to primarily meet interesting people and I can't deny that some of my closest friends here in Calgary are people who I met on CS or through other friends I met on CS.

Still go to monthly CS meetups once in a while. Never really hosted anyone personally but I'd love to host surfers once I'm into a place of my own. Have jointly hosted quite a few couchsurfers who've been put up at a close friend of mine's place.

Absolutely love meeting people from all over. In fact I owe a fair bit of social skills to this website.

Interests

football, climbing, long walks, mountains, snowboarding, airplanes, whales, drinking and pacing on the streets when in an urban mood, football, climbing, hiking, a bit of physics, mountaineering, tribal life, origins of man and all things mankind, a bit of theatre, loud music in vast open spaces, the great outdoors...

Music, Movies, and Books

Chuck Lorre vanity cards are awesome but the book seems just about overpriced.
Love reading but not an avid reader. Just because I'm too restless to confine myself to a particular space.
Reading Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond currently. Hoping to find a little more insight into how humankind managed to evolve into so much inequality over the last couple of millenia. A bit more non fiction lately, including Plato's The Republic among other essential philosophical texts.

Love David Blackwood's etchings and Jeremy Collins' style of mountain art.

Post rock and a bit of celtic rock in the recent past, and some floyd to put me to sleep. Budding artists on soundcloud. Try Bunker's music for instance.
Always up for a gig. Quite keen to delve into the independant music scene here. Loved Calgary's idea of a folkfest on a piece of land like the prince's island park. Electronic seems to have started growing on me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

guess I haven't really done something amazing enough to absolutely single it out. like climbing a big wall in yosemite or the bugaboos for that matter.

I do believe at this point in life that something absolutely amazing for me will involve consummating my admiration for a natural wonder, interacting with an inspiring rock face or a powdery mountain slope for instance, rather than a form of human interaction.

been on some absolutely amazing hikes in the mountains here in alberta and BC though. the bugaboos and abott pass hut to list a couple of special ones.
scuba dived off the coast of kota kinabalu, east malaysia and played with a starfish. hope to swim alongside hammerheads and hopefully a whale shark one day.
spending about half a year in borneo was a pretty amazing experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

a traditional indian dance form called garba. on my way to perfecting the only main course indian curry i can cook at the moment, palak paneer (spinach gravy and cottage cheese)...

perhaps share some hope and ideas about more equality in the world. share my foolishness and ignorance at other times.

if you can convince me that i have a soul that'll fly free when my heart stops pumping, the idea of being buried or burnt eventually just makes me claustrophobic. maybe ill take the freeze to death on a glacier option otherwise.
else, i would just love to learn some classic disco moves. or your cuisine and traditional music and dance forms. or if you can teach me etching and or wood printing. or the violin.

What I Can Share with Hosts

maybe some cooking, beer, stories from the mountains so far, stories about small town life in india for that matter, laughter, kindness, clean living habits
