About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn some old time and bluegrass fiddle tunes

ABOUT ME

I just moved to Brooklyn, and I unfortunately can't accept guests at this time. I loved hosting people in Philly, and hope I can start it up again sometime soon!

Before this, I lived in Pennsylvania, Washington DC, and Russia - in Vladimir and Samara for 9 months each.

Sometimes I like to be really aware of my location on a map, studying streets and landmarks very closely in order to plan my next steps precisely. Most of the time, however, I enjoy simply wandering around to see where my feet, my thoughts, and my feelings take me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've done some travelling through Europe and Russia, where I met some incredible hosts and very good friends. I absolutely love to host because it helps me explore my city through the eyes of a traveller.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Every couchsurfer I've met has been wonderfully open-minded and ready to go out and meet the world, learn new ways. I simply wanted to join this community of amazing people! My experiences surfing on other people's couches have included: making about two tons of the most delicious faux-falafel one can ever dream of; learning how to speak Polish from a 4 year old; seeing an opera in our very own box seat; drinking way too much vodka...that one's happened more than once; compiling loads of great music of bands from around the world; and much, much more.

Interests

Playing the fiddle - especially with my brother and cousins, the best damn bluegrass group on the Jersey shore.

Yoga, outdoor things like hiking, bike riding, canoeing, horseback riding

Politics - fascinating but really frustrating and hard to wrap my head around sometimes.

Languages and cultures - isn't that why we're all here?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lying on the beach of Ranghuana Cay, an island off the coast of Belize, on a beautifully clear night after a long day of sailing under the hot sun. There was no land or artificial light for miles around, so my family, friends, and I sat back and marveled at the wide open, endless sky dotted with millions upon millions of stars, among them shooting stars, satellites, and a planet or two. The ocean surrounding us countered with sparkling reflections and bioluminescent plankton, so that the enveloping darkness was not really darkness at all: the whole universe bubbled with spectacular light in constant motion. :)
