I am a naturalist. I grew up watching National Geographic, Discovery and Animal Planet and idolizing Steve Irwin. In addition, I was born and brought up in Assam (North East India) which preserves couple of wildlife world heritage sites and is extremely rich in terms of its biodiversity and endemic species. When I was a kid, my dad used to take me for a walk every evening to the bank of River Brahmaputra. The chirruping of the home coming birds, the galloping Gangetic dolphins and the evening choirs in the temples filled up my heart with utmost excitement and satisfaction. It was a peaceful affair with nature and formed the basis of my present endeavor. I am presently involved in research and teaching undergrad and grad students the basics of paleontology and statistics in IISER Kolkata-one of the premiere science institute of India.
In addition, I play drums, sing, listen to a lot of rock music, play cricket, soccer and volleyball, rescue snakes and other small animals in and around my institute campus, educate the locals about importance of natural resources, etc. I have traveled a lot within India. Every place I visited has its own essence and impact on my life. I am a positive person and believe that leading life with love and being loved is the ultimate aim we all try to pursue as a human being either consciously or subconsciously.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well I am very new to Couchsurfing. Presently, I want to get a place to stay in Denver where I am going for a conference. I am willing to stay with the locals who knows the place better and can let me know about the history, geography and culture of Denver.
In India I never felt the use of site similar to couchsurfing because I have friends from every part of India where I can go and stay. But I am very interested to associate with couchsurfing as this will allow me to host and know people and their culture both within India and abroad.
