About Me

Currently trying to figure out how to combine the normality of having a job and responsibilities with the yearning for travel and experiencing new crazy places on this pale blue dot we find ourselves on..

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Quite some years ago (back when I've never even heard of Couchsurfing) i met a few couchsurfers during some hikes and travels. Each time they turned out to be some of the most friendly and interesting people I had the chance to encounter, and so through them I earned about this project.. Its brought me only unforgettable memories and excellent encounters so far..

Interests

anything and everything.. i guess most notably things related directly (and even remotely) to architecture, art, drawing, photography, astronomy.. i like juggling, i love hiking.. hiking in the mountains is probably one of the biggest highs i get in life.. along with that i enjoy traveling, especially if its very loosely planned and includes backpacking or hitchhiking.. each time it gives u fresh perspective on urself and the world around u, and u always run into ppl ud normally never chance to meet. ..theres also nothing like watching the landscape change, either slowly day by day when ur walking, or swiftly from the seat of a a car u jst hitched :) not to mention those incredible night skies the cities have robbed us of in today's world.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy the regular run-of-the-mill blockbuster comedies and action films, though my favorite films by far tend to be somewhat more obscure, often anything surreal or space-themed.. and working every year at Rotterdam's film festival supplies me with more art house films than i can handle..

As for music.. my tastes in bands change, but inevitably i always come back to 70s funk, folk music and jazz. Some groups that have constantly stuck with me through the years would have to be Serge Gainsbourg, Rhcp, La rue ketanou, Beatles, Bob Marley, James Brown..

I tend to mostly read books about things, mostly on architecture, art history and astronomy. Probably like most people, I feel I don't read nearly enough, and unfortunately I hardly ever seem to get around to reading novels :/

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent one summer running a camping on the island of Svalbard in the deep arctic.. that was pretty mental, the landscape there can only be described as epic; the most singular and mesmerizing place I've ever seen. Such a place naturally attracts all sorts of curious people, which I had the pleasure to meet during the course of the season.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always up for endless rants on architecture, art, or astronomy.. i wouldn't consider most of my skills to be sufficiently good to actually pass on to anyone, tho I'm somewhat comfortable in the areas of drawing and languages..

Countries I’ve Visited
