ABOUT ME
I love to travel. Most of the foreign travel was done before kids, now with 3 kids, we mostly do road trips. I home school my kids, so traveling is a huge learning experience for us and the children, learning about the culture and people in the different locations instead of out of a text book. Living with the locals is an added bonus of being totally immersed in the culture. I work towards being as environmentally friendly as possible. Where possible I bike instead of driving, just simple thing that make a difference. Recently I decided to remove meat from my diet. Living with my parents who eat meat, it is almost impossible to do when we take turns cooking. We call ourselves "flexitarians", we choose not to eat meat but there is no other option, we eat what is given to us...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have not had any experiences with "Couch Surfing" community as I was just introduced to the concept from a friend. The closest I have to sleeping on other couches was when I graduated from University almost 20 years ago. I took the train across Canada with another girlfriend. In cities that we didn't know anyone, we contacted friends of friends who would take us in for a night or two. We met many people who were so accommodating and got a chance to visit the many cities across Canada.
Interests
I enjoy outdoor summer activities, especially since our summers are so short. I just started doing triathlons and enjoy the variety of the sport and it keeps me fit. I also like to do crafts. Unfortunately, that usually takes back seat to the other activities. I enjoy reading real live stories or history to the children, it is so much fun to learn together.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love sappy movies, movies that make me warm and fuzzy inside.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2007, I decided that I was going to donate my hair to "Angel Hair for Children' Program" where they make wigs or kids. I also decided to do a fund raiser at the same time. I shaved my hair and I raised $5000 for CHEO (Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario).
