About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Live an action packed life on this planet without harming any of it's creatures
ABOUT ME
I was born and raised in a log cabin on a small homestead farm in Saskatchewan. My family moved to Wisconsin when I was 17 and I graduated from high school there. I worked for a number of years for an industrial cutting tool company and was married for the first time in 1964. After a divorce in 1968 I was drafted into the US Army and spent two years there during the Viet Nam war. Spent most of my tour in the US except for about 6 weeks in Germany. After the service I decided to get a degree and did so at the University of Wisconsin. After working for a few years in agricultural sales and a year for the Royal Bank in Canada I came back to Wisconsin and drove city buses for 17 years before retiring in 2001. I celebrated retirement by buying a new Harley Davidson motorcycle and traveling to a 4-day bluegrass music festival in Winfield, KS. I have been riding cycles since I was 18 years old.
Since retirement in 2001 my second wife and I have traveled quite a lot and enjoyed an 80 acre farm in southwest Wisconsin that we had purchased in 1987. We sold it last June, 2007. I volunteer for a number of conservation organizations, a public supported radio station, a senior transport service and I try to help others whenever I can. Life is good!!
PHILOSOPHY
Life is meant to be lived in a way that shows respect and appreciation for all sentient beings. What we are is more important than what we have. The greatest joys I believe are in the things we do to help each other or some creature that is struggling to survive.

Music, Movies, and Books
My father was an old time fiddler and I learned to play guitar, rhythm bones and musical saw. When I came to the US I heard the first blues on radio stations out of the southern states and fell in love with that music. I enjoy jazz, big band, bluegrass, roots country, alt country, 50's and 60's rock, Cajun, Zydeco, and I usually go to sleep to classical.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was an honor guard at Dwight D Eisenhauer's funeral in Abilene, KS in 1969. Not amazing but it stands out in my mind.
I also witnessed the incredible May18, 1980 eruption of Mt St Helens from Centralia Washington where I lived at the time.
Teach, Learn, Share
I enjoy showing others how to play the rhythm bones and musical saw.
