ABOUT ME

Getting by in Iowa City for the time being. Happily pursuing a degree in English while filling free time with bike rides, river walks, and all around ruckus raisin'. Barely ever go to class. Learning to play guitar. Bartending at Donnelly's Irish Pub.
I seem to live life by the seat of my pants and would say that I rarely know what I'll be doing half an hour from now. While my life may lack structure, I feel I'm a put together person and only get overwhelmed in the best ways.

PHILOSOPHY

Unconcerned, bemused, ephemeral. When it comes to myself I don't see the positive side in worrying too much. My own happiness and well-being are subjective so I'd rather concentrate my thoughts on the outside world and let personal epiphanies come naturally and unexpectedly. I think that as individuals we're very undefined and at the mercy of more forces than we realize so I don't plan on spending time "getting to know myself". Tomorrow.. 15 minutes from now, "myself" will be another person.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I've had six surfers stay at my place, most for multiple nights and each very enjoyable company. I'm finding the surfers to be a welcome break from life as usual. I'm hoping to get our community group active and hanging out even when there aren't surfers around.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

CouchSurfing has been giving me some great times. One time that was especially great was when Jessie stopped by on her way East for a night. I was working that night so she stayed an extra night and we went out for drinks and a lot of mischief and ended up awake at 6am talking about.... well, I'm not sure what. Taking pictures and attempting to sing I think. One of those nights a year is enough to live on, it's some thick nectar.

Interests

Read quite a bit. Drink a lot of beer, coffee, and wine. Into bicycles, strolls, weather, rivers, forests, farms, and celestial bodies. Interested in art, photography, cinema, animals and words.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One slow Autumn night in Iowa my good friend Dan and I were completely bored after several games of Scrabble so we drove out into the country side, convinced that adventure would find us. Honestly believing that it would be more than just a drive into the country. Fifteen to twenty minutes in the cornfields and the entire sky started glowing green. We drove further out towards the brightest section of the horizon and found that several power transformers were shooting sparks far into air from on top the telephone poles. There wasn't much too it other than the visual spectacle, but for awhile our imaginations ran wild with the possibilities. Adventure and stimulation are there if you seek them.
