Overview
About Me
Broadway pilgrim. Photographer. Music nut. Spectacular vernacular. Nomad. Tea hoarder. Culinary. //
I am clumsy uni student who is attempting to replace all blood in her veins with coffee and is suffering from wanderlust. I'm an old soul with a young heart. Music is my life, international relations, politics, and art are my bread and butter, and poetry keeps me sane.
If you're visiting my profile to look for a couch, I advise you as well to read the 'My Home' section. Most of all because I like to think it's fun to read, but to know what your experience will be like!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love getting to know new people; each person I meet teaches me something new. I love to hear people's stories, they fascinate me. Locals provide a first-hand, intimate experience of the area. Their insights help facilitate the best travel experiences I have had. I think that Couchsurfing is a positive community whose values align with mine. Travelling is an enriching experience made better by interaction with locals, who are the experts in their area!
I also have really enjoyed hosting surfers from around the world and hearing their stories. I love what they bring into my life: unexpected perspectives, incredible stories, inspiration, learning to cook ethnic dishes and musings on how countries can be similar but dissimilar. Making connections and learning are my true passion, and I relish the opportunity to have my worldview widened.

Music, Movies, and Books
🎶 Music:
Favorite band? Beatles, hands down. Classic.
My music taste is eclectic, I tend to love songs more than bands. I love the spine-tingling sense of freedom that jazz conveys, the sheer artistry of indie music, oldies are always goodies, musicals are expressions of the human spirit and every now then I like to shake things up with some classical, EDM, rap or pop. It really depends on my mood.
🎥 Movies:
I'm a big film buff & love foreign films. Some favorites include 2046, Spirited Away, Raise the Red Lantern, Midnight in Paris, Empire of the Sun, The Grand Budapest Hotel and Across the Universe.
📘 Books:
I'm a big fan of Murakami, Larson and Fitzgerald. My favorite books are: The Orphanmaster's Son for it's blackly comic but vital narrative of the everyman in North Korea, the survival of hope and humanity in the darkest of times, the strangely lyrical Buddha in the Attic which perfectly encapsulates the Japanese/American experience, the complex and nuanced view of future possibilities shown in Dune and Ender's Game and The Thirteenth Tale which is a moving tribute to stories and how they lead to the definition of self.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I can't decide which one is the most amazing, so I will name a few:
👉 Spent time at NASA Ames.
👉 Jumped off a sixty foot cliff in Jamaica.
👉 Tried a variety of unique foods including Llama's eyeball, guinea pig, scorpion, and tarantula.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm far from an expert at Japanese, but I would love to teach you the basic alphabet, Hiragana, and help out with pronunciation.
I haven't traveled as much as some members, but I know rural Jamaica and England extensively. I traveled to Jamaica to start a historical preservation program in the Westmoreland Parish and participated in a homestay. I cut sugar cane for a day, visited abandoned sugar plantations, and a maroon community. Similarly, I want to learn from others and hear about their experiences traveling.
My friends say that I "bring a unique perspective to a variety of subjects." I enjoy having intellectual discussions, and am up to discuss anything, nothing is off the table.
I also would like to go on walks and do street photography. If interested, I am more than happy to share my knowledge with others. 📷
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love to cook, and I'm always up for new cuisines. 🍳 My family has integrated global cuisines into our cooking and encouraged me to be adventurous in my culinary tastes. 🌎 My specialty is East Asian food along with Indian food, and I would be happy to cook something up for you or learn from you. I also enjoy finding great cheap eats, and will dork out over food. I'm also not bad at doing dishes 😃
I'd love to make you a cuppa of tea, made from scratch, which is authentic and unique (my friends rave about my ginger and Indian turmeric tea.) If you want, I'd also be happy to bring you some tea from my collection, I'm obsessed with genmaicha currently. 🍵
