When traveling, living like a local is my goal. I've lived in California most of my life, splitting time between Los Angeles and San Francisco. I studied Film and Art History in college (with a minor in English!) and I went abroad for a semester in Prague. After I graduated, I came back for a Czech language program.

When in new cities, I prefer getting around on foot / bike. I'd love your recommendations for art house movie theaters and museums/galleries where you live!

Screenwriting. It's a passion of sorts. I've got one feature script done, which I'm editing now, and I'm working on a couple others. If you want to swap writing and give each other notes, I'd love that!

Music, Movies, and Books

I recently got very into Kurt Vile (the contemporary guitarist and vocalist, not the German composer Kurt Weill, though I like him too). I love rock of all kinds (classic, alternative, punk, psychedelic) and jazz.

I've seen so many films that it's hard for me to discuss them in terms of "favorites," so I'll just say I love film noir, international cinema, and indies. I'm always up for a good western. I watch a lot of—probably too much—television. It's so good these days, I can't help it! I loved Boardwalk Empire and Six Feet Under. I'm currently watching The Deuce, Flowers, and Babylon Berlin and thoroughly enjoying them all.

I am an avid reader (https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/7102102-scarlet-cummings), and some of my favorite books are Moby Dick (I've never been so moved!), East of Eden, Invisible Man, Johnny Got His Gun, and anything by John Fante, James M. Cain, and Raymond Chandler.
