ABOUT ME
I’ve been on this site forever and my profile is poorly maintained. I’m a freelance translator who lives in Berlin. My top interests are travel, food and leftist politics.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Once, I arrived to a new town, and couldn't find my host. It ended with me turning him into a CS host, who I have since kept in touch with. Other than that, I've stayed at a lot of CS houses, and gone to a lot of CS meetups in Moscow. Nowadays, I'm hoping to try and meet up with some cool people in my digital nomad journey.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
In Moscow I had a couple of good experiences just hanging out with CS people, and also at the end of my time when I suddenly had no where to go due to visa issues, CS got my back. Later I stayed in loads of CS houses on a trip through Europe.
Interests
I love foreign languages, music, literature, films, politics and cooking. I also enjoy downhill skiing, but it's been a bit hard to get to the slopes in the last few years.

Music, Movies, and Books
These days I mainly listen to modern fairly mainstream rap and alternative rock. I like lots of movies. My favorite movie is Woman under the Influence, and my favorite director is Tarkovsky. I watch a lot of crappy thrillers and horror movies too. What can I say? I like to jump.
In terms of books, my favorite authors are Bulgakov, Dovlatov, Charles Portis, JK Toole. Unfortunately, I don't always read as much as I like anymore now that I write for a living.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach Russian, and English. I'm also a pretty good cook, and have picked up recipes from a lot of different places I've been. I love sharing the food I've made, and even more when people want to learn about cooking.
I wrote that I am "learning German," but it would be more accurate to say I have forgotten German, though I was once quite proficient at it. So, if you're German and are willing to just give me some (perhaps somewhat frustrating) conversation practice, that would be awesome.
