ABOUT ME
I like human beings, how strange they might appear to be at certain moments; I'm a rather communicative person - as long as you don't give me a musical instrument which will occupy me for some time. But still music is communication.
Currently I play in a guitar-duo called NiGer Delta Lifeguard Experiment (or Experience). You can find our music on soundcloud and YouTube.
For the last four years I have been organising an annual music festival which takes a lot of my time and energy but gives them back within the three days of the festival - amazing. Take a look at www.summerrise.org to see what its all about.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I started hosting tourist I met on the street in 2004 when I was working as promoter for some development project (worst job ever) - long before I knew something like couchsurfing existed. When I found out about couchsurfing I really liked the idea. We only once had a couchsurfer in our apartment as we don't have much place ourselves.
My biggest support for couchsurfing was taking part in a survey in Bolzano/Italy where we researched youth culture and also looked into the local couchsurfing community. The results were published in a Video and a Report at the Universit of Insbruck/Austria.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Apart form my Italian experience I did a trip to France last year where I met some great people and hospitality. Unfortunately we did it all via the couchsurfing account of a friend so there is no record at my page. But thanks to the nice israelian owner of the Bar "la chenouille bleu" in Metz, to the three cohabitants of the place in Reims, where you can see the cathedral from the roof top and have some really nice croque-monsieurs, and to the couple and the bicicle-courrier in Strasbourg who are as uncomplicated and hospital as you can be.
Interests
Music, listening, playing and making place for it is maybe my greatest pleasure. As social anthropologist I'm also interested in people and their interaction although less from a scientific as from a social perspective - I simply enjoy this.
I'm also a hobby gardener raising my own tomatoes and hot peppers on my window sill - 6 different kinds on less than two square meters ;)
I follow the saying "you are what you eat" and think it is really important to look what you put into your body. I cook for myself up to three times a day and I can only recommend it to others.
Another interest is free space - places in acity which are not strictly controlled and allow freedom for people to be who they are, do what they want and exchange themeselves apart from authority and social regulations.

a plant growing from the grain to the fruit; a bunch of strangers on a festival who become a family due to a thunderstorm which forced them into a save shelter; the falaise in Dogon Country; an old Serb who not only let us camp in his garden but also got up at six o'clock to make coffee for us and provide us with vegetables for our journey; to be continued
