About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet as many people, in as many places as humanly possible to gain a broader perspective

ABOUT ME

I am a restless soul. I was born in Syracuse, NY and have lived in Michigan, Tennessee and now California. I suppose other than just being curious/adventurous I would like to see as many different places as I can, both internationally and within the U.S. I enjoy nightlife, the outdoors, running, weightlifting and powerlifting, snowboarding, bowling and many other things. One of my goals with traveling is to gain a broader perspective. Some of the places on the top of my list are, Scotland, Germany, Australia and Italy, but there are a lot more on the list!

PHILOSOPHY

I think we're all in this life together. We should try to help each other out when we can, and hope (not expect) the same in return. I guess the whole karma thing sums it up. I like my life and feel every day can be a new adventure but many times you have to go looking for it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I don't get many surfers in my area, but I am happy to host when I can, and even if I can't due to work or travel, I am always willing to help someone out whatever way I can. The first time I hosted, I hosted five international students from four different countries and I was sold!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have stayed in a "Palace" in Spain that was absolutely amazing. I have also stayed on a boat in Long Beach, CA, which was a lot of fun! The experiences you will have and the people you will meet with CS is just amazing.

Interests

I enjoy diving, snowboarding/skiing, hiking, old architecture, music, nightlife, riding motorcycles, hot rods, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a huge variety of movies and music, but my taste in books is more specific. For movies and TV (which I really don't have much time for), I like comedies, suspense/thrillers, oddball movies, like Big Lebowski and especially movies that make you think (Butterfly Effect, for example). My favorite book is The Great Gatsby, but for more modern books I like Hunger Games, A Song of Fire and Ice (Game of Thrones), and technologically involved books by authors like Michael Crichton and James Rollins.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Several years ago I went on a 7400mi roadtrip across the US on my motorcycle. It took me across a broad variety of landscapes, meeting an eclectic combination of people and rekindled old friendships. I had a lot of experiences to learn from, including almost rnunning out of gas in the middle of a state park, being on the verge of heatstroke riding across west Texas, hiking the Grand Canyon, cruising through the Rocky Mountains and discovering local beers across the states.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have learned in my travels that you will meet all kinds of people everywhere and seeking out the good ones is top priority! I have also learned (the main reason I joined CS) that locals are the best way to see a place.

What I Can Share with Hosts

At the moment my wife and I share a small apartment, so I can only offer what little knowledge I have of the area. That being said, we are up for exploring with you!
