About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to turn all my green pins to white pins!

ABOUT ME

There's a line from a song which is referenced in my mission, it reads:
"There's a map of the world on the wall of your room,
green pins where you want to go,
white pins where you've been
and there isn't even 10
and you're already feeling old"

This is basically the position I was in during spring of 2010, and so i decided to quit my job and use some savings to follow a group of friends into europe and the world to see places and discover all there is to know about the world. I returned home in november 2010 and began planning to leave england for good. A number of visits to friends and a year working later I settled on Gibraltar, and set sail!

I'm here now, looking for a job and living in a flat with 2 of my best friends, fellow travelers and one of whom i actually met through CS!

I'm 26, I love to laugh, and to make others laugh. I love to learn and I'm a Quizmaster. I love seeing new places and meeting new people. I love to drink (in new places!) I love to listen to music, with a hugely varied taste (in short, you can guarantee I'll like something you like, and something you hate). I've always had an interest in history particularly military, political and ancient history. I love classical civilization and would love to return to uni to study it one day! I love comedy mostly British and aspire to one day write some myself, i also love cinema, I'm a big fan or Japenese and Korean Cinema, although a rather uneducated one! I love Anime, studio ghibli in particular! Any tips on this subject would be gratefully received!
There's not alot more you need to know that can't be found out over a drinking game!

(EDIT: since arriving in Hungary I've also developed and addiction for Table Football)

PHILOSOPHY

If you can't laugh at everything, what can you laugh at?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I do not require an overly personalised request, detailing how carefully you've read my profile. If you like to read profiles carefully and want a write such a message i'll be delighted to read it but I've been in the situation of needing to fire off alot of requests in a short space of time and if thats all you have time for then I will not think any less of your request.

Until October 2011 I was purely a surfer, I had some limited hosting experience as my friends in Hungary had some surfers while I was visiting, and I helped show them around.

Now I have my own place in Spain, 5 mins from the Gibraltar border and I'm looking forward to returning the thousands of favours i've received from the couchsurfers of the world.

Update: Since november, between the three hosts living in our flat we've managed to give a sofa, bed, tent or bit of floor to over 120 people. Long may that number continue to grow!
