About Me

a curious introvert and pragmatic idealist...

some random facts about me:
-- i like eating raw fish and turtle soup
-- i think children and old people make fascinating photography subjects
-- i prefer tea over coffee, hot soup over dessert, intellectual debate over small talk, hanging out with a few good friends over big crowds...
-- i'm practicing trying to be random, which i think makes my otherwise organised life more fun...
-- but i think randomness needs to be meaningful too and i'm trying to figure out whether that makes sense...Hello travellers... Why I’m on Couchsurfing

i'm a really complicated thinker, so it's hard to put down all my personal philosophies down here... plus i'm an introvert so i dun really want them to be known on a public site as well... and yet i wouldn't want to write something for the sake of writing it cos that would be insincere... oh well, one day i might just get down to thinking of a short and genuine summary of my personal philosophy... then i'll change the post here... :-)

for now, i'm just trying to work as hard as i can and play equally hard too... life is short... one life, live it...

Music, Movies, and Books

-- war movies/ books (eg. Saving Private Ryan, The Patriot, Red Cliff, Romance of the Three Kingdoms)

-- movies that are thought-provoking or which show me insights into another culture (foreign films), eg. Secret Sunshine... occassionally, i also enjoy "brainless" shows...

-- books that challenge my thinking (generally non-fiction books eg. The Tipping Point, The Art of Woo)... my all-time fav book is the Bible...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Having the train inspector at Gangneung (Korea) train station delay the train by a minute so my sister and I could buy tickets and rush up the train -- and this is in the context of super punctual Korean trains... Plus all the fantastically sweet people (strangers/ shopkeepers/ motel owners/ taxi drivers, etc) in Korea who went out of their way to be nice even though there was often a massive language barrier... was really touched by their collective hospitality... :-)

Teach, Learn, Share

Learn -- about other cultures, other points of views, photography (just bought a canon 450d a while back and still trying to figure out how it all works)
Share -- my own travel experiences
Teach -- Mandarin, guitar for beginners

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Burundi, China, France, Georgia, Hong Kong, Macao, Malaysia, Maldives, Rwanda, Taiwan, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom, United States, Zambia, Zimbabwe
