About Me

Intellectually trained, mindfully adventurous, philosophically curious, unwaveringly honest , open minded with a big heart.

My academic background is in cellular molecular biology and biomedical engineering, though my interests are more aligned with philosophy, anthropology , sociology and contemplative studies.

Traveled alone on a scholarship through 10 non-western countries for a year, observing and learning from traditional nature-based cultures.

I love being in nature. Spending time in silence and solitude in the natural world is a critical part of my daily life. Wrote an internationally recognized essay on “what we can learn from nature.” Published poet.

Currently working as a storyteller, writer, journalist, photographer and teacher (mindfulness, Spanish, nature-based fitness).

Ashtanga yoga.

Other things I enjoy: nature based fitness, sports, reading, stimulating conversations, live music.

Speak 3 languages well, and 4 others quite terribly.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think Couchsurfing is a more immersive experience than being insulated in a hotel, or packed into a hostel. It has allowed me to learn more about the people and countries I'm visiting, and break out of the traveler bubble.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - jazz, blues, funk, rap, folk, indie. If you are an avid music listener we will get along

Books - I read all the time. Some of my recent favorites were Ishmael, the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible, and Dharma Bums!

Don’t watch tv or many movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent 17 days hiking - mostly alone- in the Himalayas.

Once made an award winning speculum.

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach meditation, nature-based mindfulness and a bit of yoga. I always am delighted to share these practices.

I'm an open minded person, who always accepts guidance. I'm willing to learn whatever your willing to teach!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversation, mindfulness practices, respect.

Countries I’ve Visited

Aruba, Bahamas, Belize, Bolivia, Cambodia, Canada, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, England, Haiti, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, Netherlands, Peru, Puerto Rico, Saint Lucia, Saint Martin (French part), Singapore, Spain, Thailand, United States
